THE BASICS

Beech- Old magic and history. Hopeful magic and wishes. These people tend to be historians and archaeologists. They are also dreamers, writing a lot of fiction (fantasy in particular).
Centaur tail hair- The sheer strength and speed of the centaur is harbored in its tail hair lending both quickness and ferocity when casting spells, charms, jinxes and hexes.
BOGGART: The dog he lost when he was 7. His parents gave him the pet as a gift, but Markos accidentally let him out. This was only the beginning of Morkos discovering how bad he was at caring for living things.

FAMILY/RELATIONSHIPS
PARENTS: Henrick Morgensen and Liselot Lind - Markos is close to his parents and writes them frequently while he is away at school.
SIBLINGS: None. He's an only child. :(
EXTENDED FAMILY: a handful of cousins, none of whom he is close to
SEXUALITY: Straight. Not remotely curious.
SIGNIFICANT OTHERS: None to speak of. Markos is notorious for being that broody guy that girls are naturally attracted to, but being nearly impossible to actually get into a relationship. He might flirt and almost smile at the girls, but it rarely goes further than that and he's certainly never shown any serious feelings for any of them.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Markos' outward appearance practically shouts "bad boy." From his well-worn street clothes to the very posture and the ner ever present cigarette, he definitely looks the part. It's certainly not difficult to tell that he comes from a relatively humble background and the ever present scowl might suggest that he's really not concerned with what you think of that.

He's tall, standing at around 6'1, but he has a slight frame. While he's no weakling, he does not have the physique of an athlete and most people are surprised by how quickly and gracefully he can move when the occasion calls for it.

PERSONALITY
LIKES: poetry, music, puzzles, challenges

QUIRKS: he bites his nails and he bites the inside of his cheek when he's craving a smoke and is unable to indulge that craving immediately
SECRETS:
+ He has a secret crush on... [your character here!] She's the one girl he's ever felt anything more than a passing attraction for, but he refuses to act on it.
+ He really hates Quidditch. This probably isn't a secret that is not easily guessed, but he's on the team because it's expected of him more than anything else.

WEAKNESSES: Anti-Social, Aloof, anything to do with plants or animals, such as CoMC or Herbology. He has a knack for killing living things without meaning to.

DETAILED PERSONALITY:
Markos is not an easy guy to get to know. He's a bit of a loner and it is much more common to find him off to himself reading or studying than to find him with a group of his peers. This is not to say that he refuses the company of others, of course; he merely prefers to be on his own.

To say that Markos is an elitist when it comes to bloodlines would be a bit of an understatement. While he might not be very high up in the hierarchy in regards to class, his blood is just as pure as that of his higher ranking peers and he is just as likely to turn his nose up at those from a less than pure background. Of course, that doesn't mean that he thinks the mudbloods should be wiped out or what have you. Markos is a pretty easygoing guy and he's content to just coexist with those people, so long as, you know, he doesn't have to touch them or share his living space with them.

He's just as dark and brooding as he appears to be. Markos has a tendency to overthink things a lot and if something is bothering him, he's likely to brood about it for days. He has a bit of a temper and he's quite capable of of being violent, but he tries to keep it under control and he succeeds more often than not. He's not someone you should make an enemy of, though, because his sense of morality is somewhere between dark and grey and he won't hesitate to resort to some less than ethical means once he's decided to seek revenge on someone who has wronged him.

For all his avoidance of violence in most instances, Markos is actually a good fighter. He isn't very strong, but he has excellent reflexes. Besides, he's a wizard. Physical strength is hardly important when you have magic at your disposal.

HISTORY:
Markos grew up an only child in the home of two lower middle class parents who worked hard to support him and give him the things he needed as he grew up. While he lacked money as a child, there was plenty of love and support in the household and both of his parents always encouraged him in whatever he wanted to do.

His father encouraged his participation in sports, specifically Quidditch, and though Markos never really cared for the sport, he played to make his father happy. He would have much rather been spending his time in some other fashion, but pleasing his parents has always been a priority for him and if he could make his father happy with something so simple as pretending to love a sport he didn't, he considered it a small sacrifice.

His real aptitude and passion was in more academic pursuits. He's always loved reading as well as doing a little writing of his own and when it came time to start school, he discovered that he did best in the subjects that did require a little more thought. Transfiguration and Potions quickly became two of his favorites and he decided early on in his education at Durmstrang that he would be pursuing Dark Libations once he reached his 6th Year, though he considered Dark Charms briefly as well. He has not yet decided on a specific career path, but he's very seriously mulling over the possibilities.
