THE PREMISE Have you ever dreamed you were someone else and it was so vivid that, for a moment, you were convinced you were that person. It couldn't be, of course. That person isn't even real and dreams are just dreams, right?
Or, maybe not.
A series of people, all around the world, are experiencing that very thing and, as it turns out, there's much more to it than it being just a dream. Those people are all reincarnations of fictional characters - imaginarily people from literature, mythology, nursery rhymes, fairy tales, etc. They don't have conscious memories of their past lives, but, boy, do they dream about them. Some of them even have special abilities related to their former selves.
The dreams can be good or bad, but the one thing they all are is vivid. Those affected might feel like they're going crazy at first, at least until they begin to discover that there are more people like them, that these aren't just random, recurring dreams.
THE RULES 1. Please stick to reincarnations that can be referenced through original written work. Characters from movie and television would be acceptable if that show or movie was based on a previously written book, but we will not be accepting characters that originated onscreen. The exception to this is Harry Potter. There are plenty of HP games out there to choose from, so we're not allowing characters from that universe at this time.
Note: While it's not a rule, we'd like to see reincarnations that are from a different generation than the character you are playing. It's not a requirement and other situations will be considered, but we'd like the focus of the game to be on reincarnations of older stories and myths rather the things that have been written recently.
2. Characters must reside in one of the main cities of the game - currently New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago and London. Your character may travel and doesn't have to always be in those cities, but their primary residence must be in one of those places and please keep in mind that those cities will be where most of the action will be taking place.
3. We are your mods, but this is your game. If you have an issue with how something is being done, please let us know. If you have a suggestion for improving the game, we're all ears. No major changes to rules, etc., will be made without consulting the community first to make sure it serves the needs of the majority of our members.
4. There is no limit on how many characters a single player may have. However, once you have 3 or more characters in the game, each subsequent application must include links to recent activity for all of your current characters. Recent activity will be defined as a thread, log or journal entry of more than 100 words dates within the last month. If we notice that a person is throwing up "activity" threads or posts for normally inactive characters right before submitting a new app or we see a pattern of a person ignoring certain characters or working this system in any way, we will start denying future applications based on activity.
In addition, please do not hold onto characters you aren't playing just to keep hold on a certain character or PB. It isn't fair to other players in the game and, while we aren't instituting any other activity checks at this time, if we start to see a problem with people applying for characters and then not playing them regularly, we will revise our policy to include regular checks.
5. Standard RP etiquette applies. No godmodding, no puppeting another character without the players permission, etc. If you are in a thread with multiple players, please observe posting order and don't skip over any of those players without permission. While it can be frustrating to wait of people with differing schedules in a large thread and make things take a long time to play out, it's just not fair to those players to skip over their turn without them telling you it's okay to do so.
6. IC and OOC. Keep them separate. As a player, you will know things that your character doesn't. Keep this in mind and don't cross that line when roleplaying. Also remember that IC drama should not be taken personally. IC drama is a good thing. OOC is not and will not be tolerated.
7. HAVE FUN! Seriously, guys. Remember that this is a game and it's meant to be entertaining. We're all here to write and play and have fun, so try to keep that in mind. If something is going on that is preventing you from having fun, we're always available to do what we can to make things fun again.
