About The Character
QUICK ANSWERS
Name: Amanda Celeste Brocklehurst
Journal:
House & Graduation Year: 1998 Ravenclaw
Occupation: Hogwarts Student
Allegiance: While she isn't aware of the existence of the DA, she'd be on their side if she was in the know. Sort of. Mandy doesn't understand the purist attitude. She loves people no matter what their background and thinks it's silly to judge someone for something beyond their control. She's not very vocal about it, though, preferring to appear neutral and keep out of trouble.
Blood Status: Halfblood
Birthday & Other Important Dates: November 5th, 1979
PB: Ginnifer Goodwin

LONG ANSWERS
Appearance: Average height, standing at about 5'5 and average build. Mandy has a slender, athletic frame that is kept in shape by regular exercise. She favors casual clothing - comfort over style - and almost always wears a smile.
Likes & Dislikes:
LIKES: Literature, running, Quidditch, nature/camping.
DISLIKES: Cramped spaces, licorice, empty bookshelves.

Personality: Mandy has always been the friendly, bubbly sort of girl most people find easy to get on with. Her curious nature made it obvious why she was sorted into Ravenclaw, but she was always friendly with those outside her house, too, having a friendly smile for any who might approach her. She loved to socialize and still would to this day if there was much of it to be done. Mandy is very much a people person. She likes being up on the latest gossip and trends.

Rather than being one of those simpering girly girls, Mandy is a big lover of nature. Camping, hiking, etc are some of her favorite past times and she hates being cooped up indoors for long. She loves flying for the freedom it gives her. She likes the weightless feeling she gets on a broom and the way the wind whips through her hair. She really loves playing Quidditch a lot and will miss it when she's done from school if she doesn't end up on a pro team.

Mandy is a loyal, understanding friend to have. A Ravenpuff at heart, she values her friends and family and there is little she wouldn't do for them. She's not a very patient sort, but she's always willing to listen to a friend in need and she likes to think she gives pretty good advice, especially in matters of the heart. Her mother writes trashy romance novels, so of course she's an expert at such things!
Relationships:
MOTHER: Samantha Brocklehurst, schoolteacher.
FATHER: Edmund Brocklehurst, bookstore owner.

SIBLINGS: 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

CLOSE FRIENDS: Other Claws in her year; to be plotted further in-game.

EX-BOYFRIENDS: Also to be plotted in-game. Nothing serious.

Background: Mandy was born one of six children to a magical couple who is obviously still very much in love, even to this day. Those close to the Brocklehursts often like to joke that you would think they would know about the various methods of preventing babies, but the truth is that their large family has always been a very happy one and Mandy grew up surrounded by people who loved and adored her, which is never a bad thing.

It was no surprise when she received her Hogwarts letter at 11. Both of her parents are magical, so it was something expected and Mandy had been showing little signs of magic since the age of three, anyway. It was no surprise, either, when she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Even at 11, Mandy was already a bookworm and her frequent explorations around the neighborhood often got her into trouble. There were Muggles and Magical folks alike in their neighborhood and that fascinated Mandy. She wanted to know why they were different. She wanted to know everything about the Muggle things that she didn't have growing up. Their sports, especially, fascinated her and she begged and pleaded her way into a large collection of Muggle books long before her own schooling began.

Hogwarts was amazing for her. It was beyond anything her parents or older siblings could have described and she was fascinated. Mandy quickly soaked up everything Hogwarts had to offer her, excelling in many of her classes and working hard to keep up in the others. As a magical child, she'd grown up loving Quidditch, of course, but she was blown away by her first flying lesson all the same. Mandy was a natural on a broom and she was instantly taken with the freeing feeling being on a broomstick gave her. There was nothing like it.

After being stuck as an alternate her second year, Mandy finally nabbed an open Chaser position in her third. Ecstatic owls home soon followed, along with begging her parents for her very own broom. They relented, though she was forced to spend her holidays working it off in her dad's shop. She didn't mind, though. It was easily one of her favorite places to spend her time, anyway.

She also started to really notice the blokes at school in her third year. Mandy has never been exactly boy crazy, but she developed a crush on one of her best friends, Terry Boot. She went out with a couple of other guys, but she always hoped he would notice her as something other than just a sister-like-best-friend. In their fourth year, she thought she'd gotten her wish. They went to the Yule Ball together and had a GREAT time. She even found the courage to try and snog him after the dance. Unfortunately, the relationship wasn't meant to be. Mandy's ego is still a little bruised from that, but she loves Terry too much to let it affect their friendship.

As far as the growing conflict between the good guys and the Death Eaters, Mandy was one of those students who tried really hard to deny that You Know Who could and would come back. She tried just as hard to deny the evidence that he was back and gaining more and more power. It was stupid and selfish and cowardly of her, but as long as no one she personally knew wasn't effected, she could carry on with her own life, focusing on Quidditch and friends and family and all of that. Even when Umbridge took over for Dumbledore, she found it was easy enough to get by so long as she kept her head down and minded herself.

As hard as she's tried, though, it's getting harder and harder to deny the obvious and she's scared. It doesn't help that her parents are obviously worried. She's overheard long fights between them over whether Hogwarts really is the safest place for their children, whether to just keep her at home or even go into hiding. Mandy doesn't want that. She wants to go back and finish her last year with her friends. She still believes that Dumbledore can keep them all safe. She only hopes that he agrees.
Plot Intentions: I don't have anything set planned at this point, but I'd love to just throw her at random people and see what happens.

SAMPLES
Sample Journal Entry: (this is from another game, but it's still Mandy)
I absolutely love this time of year. The flat's all decorated with the windows charmed to twinkle all sorts of pretty colours and I've a tree put up and I've baked so many different cakes and things. I'm not fantastic at it, but I think they turned out pretty well. I've even managed to do a lot of my shopping, though, of course, I have more to do.

Remember how amazing Hogwarts used to look at Christmas time? It seems like such a long time ago, doesn't it?

[Private]

It still feels so strange to think that I am actually married and to Andrew Kirke. Amanda Kirke. It still feels so strange to say or to write. He's very handsome and I know it could be worse, but it still feels so strange.

I think I need to invest in more books. I've read everything I have and I feel like finding something new. Does anyone have any suggestions?
