Profile

Basics

Name: Angela Dreyfus
Nicknames: Angie
Age: 34
Date of birth: April 10, 1974
Occupation: Science Teacher
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single

Personality

Positives: Funny, friendly, devoted, determined, intelligent, logical, curious, independent, outspoken, hard-working
Negatives: Stubborn, judgmental, literal-minded, hates asking for help, lacks social grace (and physical grace for that matter)

Summary: Angie possesses a strange sort of charisma. She isn't in any way charming, graceful, or smooth, but her blunt speaking, inherent friendliness, and sense of humor tend to make people like her and even turn to her for advice. She believes passionately in justice, equality, freedom of speech, the value and power of education, and working within the system. If she dislikes or disagrees with a rule or law she will complain about it and even try to change it, but she'll still follow it, it's a rule after all. Besides, she's the sort of person who never gets away with anything. The one time she runs a red light she'll invariably get a ticket

She's passionate about science, especially biology, physics, and chemistry, and the stranger and more obscure the theory the better. She loves that science can explain so much about the universe, but she also loves that it poses more mysterious and wild questions to go with every answer. And science is fun too! (She tells physics jokes. Often. Much to her students' dismay.) Despite the occasional (okay, not so occasional) rant, Angie strikes most people as a happy and friendly person. She hates to admit when anything is wrong and uses humor as a defense mechanism. She likes to think that she can take on the world single-handedly, which means sometimes she ends up struggling to juggle more than she can handle, but she doesn't like to ask for help for fear of looking weak or incompetent.

History

Family: Greg Dreyfus (father), Ruthanne Dreyfus (mother), Blake Dreyfus (younger brother), Jacob Dreyfus (younger brother)

Summary: Angie grew up in South Carolina in a very traditional and mostly happy family. She and her little brothers went to the local school, joined after-school clubs, went to Sunday school and summer camp. Their house even had a white picket fence. All that wholesomeness was stifling though. Angie didn't rebel, she wasn't the type, but as soon as she got the chance she left to see what else the world had to offer. She went to college in Boston and from there she got a job with Boston Public Schools, where she taught in an inner-city school for five stressful but rewarding years and also worked her way through graduate school.

The stress got to be too much after that though and she returned home, hoping to work at a smaller and quieter school closer to her family (but not too close?). When she was offered a position as a science teacher in Mt. Pleasant she happily packed up her life and left the big city. She has a nice house on the nearby Isle of Palms, a few good friends, and a good job. She's involved at the school and in the community. What else could she ask for? Well, she would like a relationship, and maybe to start a family of her own. She knows she's not getting any younger. Even if she wasn't keenly aware of that fact, her mother makes sure to remind her whenever they talk. Angie has dated a couple guys in town, but nothing serious has ever developed and she isn't sure anything ever will. She's thinking of giving up and getting a cat. Or maybe several cats. And caller ID, to avoid calls from her mother.

Power

Photon Manipulation: Angie has the power to manipulate light at a particle (or wave?) level. She can manipulate ambient light, making a room or area brighter or darker. She can also temporarily create and control light sources, such as small glowing spheres, in order to illuminate an area. Because she manipulates light at a particle level it is possible that with practice she could create streams or bursts of extremely excited aligned photons. That is to say, lasers.
