Oh em gee. I totally had that exact same problem when I moved here. Everyone was all 'ALOHA' and 'MAHALO' and all this other slang that made them look more like idiots than anything else, like I didn't understand regular English or something. People can be such lolos when it comes to new and exciting people.
Don't worry, the novelty will wear off eventually.
