SEVERUS SNAPE

Name: Severus Tobias Snape
Age: 41
Born: January 9, 1959
House: Slytherin
Occupation: Potions Professor at Hogwarts, and Slytherin Head of House.
Wand: 16 inch, inflexible, ebony, with veela hair.
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Souless black
Height: 6"2
Heritage: Half-Blood
Languages: English, Latin, Italian, and French.

Magical Specialty: A Master at Potions and the Dark Arts to an extent dealing with potions and hexes. Also is an experienced user in Herbology, which mainly deals with uses in, and for, potions. He is also particularly good at both Legimency and Occlumency.

Things.

Likes: He likes reading literature, and though he wouldn't tell, he is quite fond of Muggle stories. He enjoys playing the piano, classical music and Potions. Since the end of the war with Voldemort, he's had more time for himself, and likes traveling when he can, he enjoys the freedom and the ability to be himself. He's also quite interested in Photography of the Muggle sort, though he does prefer to look rather than participate.

Dislikes: He dislikes the attitudes of some people, especially those who believed the war was a courageous act of brilliance. Snape dislikes people ignoring him and his orders. He also hates being told what to do by those younger and less experienced than him, or by those he has hated in the past. He dislikes inane, repetitive things, and doesn't like the deeds he has done, forgotten.

Quirks: He has at least two albums filled with photos of many kinds. Either from simple things such as photos of instruments used in Potions, to scenery, wild life, and the occasional place from his travels. He also has a small collection of items he's picked up.

Personality.

Cold and snarky, Snape takes pleasure in reducing people, adults and students alike into simpering wrecks. He is still a bitter and somewhat lonely man, passed failed relationships making him more snarky and un-inviting. He is un-willing to trust people and is always suspicious, doubtful, and angry. Snape is a lonely man though, but he finds himself unable to change the way he is, not sure if he could take the chance and risk being hurt.

He enjoys many things, but part of him feels he must keep it quiet, like he doesn't deserve to feel a little happiness. The amount of death and violence he has seen has depressed him as it would anyone. He's still snarky, and cruel, but no longer has as much spite and passion in his reprimands.

History.

During the years before she married, Eileen Prince, was a witch just like most of the other pureblooded ones. She attended school and was often found to be unattractive by the boys her age and older. Eileen found happiness in playing Gobstones with other students and was a champion of her class, other than that she was a skilled potion maker. There wasn't much to her other than that and when she left school her parents found it hard to get her to marry someone. It wasn't like her blood was old as the Malfoys or the Blacks, so she had problems finding someone.

That wasn't until she met a very handsome, but arrogant, muggle man. He was everything that most women found attractive and he found her pale and sullen-like appearance exclusively attractive. She ran away from her home, just to marry the man named Tobias Snape. After the two were married, she divulged her secret to him and he reacted outlandishly and even violently. The two had married because of attraction and the sudden pregnancy and not because of true love, only the sex and obligation. Tobias just couldn't take the this shock and it drove him to drink profusely. Tobias Snape became an pleasant man. As he grew older, he sunk into both drink and gambling. He was not even in attendance the day that Severus was born into the family. The home abuse didn't start until he knew that Severus was just like his mother and he was stuck with the two of them.

Severus would regularly see his father beat his mother in fits of anger or drunkenness, and sometimes received the same treatment. This made him a very lonely child who preferred to hide in his room, watching people rather than playing with others' his age. Many children didn't like him, put off by his temper and calculating eyes. At the age of seven he began reading the contents of his the local library, from books on gardening, to the dark, well kept secret alcove of books on the Dark Arts, curses, and hexes from his mother's stash. By nine, his mother had started to teach him to brew, and by thirteen, he had read every book in the local library. He then began to buy his own books from stores he'd been warned away from such as Borgin and Burkes.

Severus' father hated the fact that his son was so "unique", as he didn't believe the younger Snape could get a worthwhile job out of it. Not only this, but Tobias Snape was terrible at most thing, and hated to be reminded of his weakness. He would regularly take his frustration out of Severus if he was doing something that seemed "weird" to him and this made Severus close himself off. He spent so much time learning that he knew most of the curses and Dark Arts that most kids don't learn or know until their sixth or seventh year.

School: Severus was a arrogant and unusually cruel person word wise, although he never got anywhere with James, Sirius and the rest giving him problems. He became popular with his Slytherin companions ONLY because of his skills and they recognized that he was not someone to misjudge. He was an excellent student and made the highest grades in his class, but from the back of the classroom. Never once did he make an attempt to raise his hand or bother to answer a question that was in written form, he wasn't a know-it-all, even if he did know it all. Why prove what everyone else already knew?

He was humiliated by James' friends and even had one of his own spells used on him. By that time, Lily tried to step in to save him some of that but his pride was way too high to admit the help even by someone who tried. After that moment alone, he spent time trying to get back at them until he was lured by the Maurader's into the Shireking Shack on the night Lupin turned into a werewolf, but was saved by James Potter; his school nemesis. Severus felt that he was forever in the debt of James and allowed for the group to continue their pickings without fighting back, which reminded him of the weakness of his mother and father.

He'd taken the time to stay within in studies and in his sixth year, he stopped using the text book and started writing all inside of it. He later forgot about that book and shoved it somewhere, hoping nobody would track the graffiti back to him; The Halfblood Prince.

After:
He joined Voldemort shortly after he turned 18, at the age of twenty-one he mastered Potions. Also he mastered Herbology and Healing, the latter he learned so he could be extra effective at creating poisons for Voldemort. At the age of twenty-five he left Voldemort's side. What had started for him as a way to get recognition and to no longer hide away from the Muggles, had turned into a twisted mix of insanity and careless death. Whilst he wanted freedom, killing and watching innocents die, even muggles and then wizards, was to much to take. He believed in the idea of Pure-blood supremacy, but not to the point where he wished for everyone 'inferior' to be wiped out, and executed in ghastly ways. Shortly, during the first war, he became a "spy" but more so a double agent for both sides.

Going to Dumbledore was perhaps one of the hardest things he ever had to do, both the pity and not quite disgust at what he'd done shown in Dumbledore's eyes was enough to send him to his knees, weeping. He has only ever shared his reasons with Dumbledore, and prefers to keep this part of his life a secret. He had spied for Dumbledore since, and also joined the Order under the others' request. Snape never felt truly welcomed in the beginning, knowing most had expected him to turn, but through the battles' he showed his true colours. That he was in deed, on the side of good.

His teaching wasn't orthodox, and if Dumbledore hadn't stepped in he likely would have been fired many times over. He believed in teaching the students the hard facts of life, rather than coddling them. He got used to being the most hated teacher, finding it easier to live up to that aspect of his life, never having to worry someone would tell on him for how he acted. Getting the chance to make Gryffindors lives hell was also a plus to his job. Snape was nasty to Harry Potter any many of his friends, but still accepted the fact the boy had something to live up to despite never asking for it. In some ways he could pity the boy, but other ways, Potter simple enraged him. He looked out for the boy, and the rest of his students, keeping an eye on those in Slytherin whom would be later recruited to Voldemort's army. He did try to protect and save, but at the same time, not give his true motives away. Snape wanted redemption in some ways, and he knew that although he could never make up for past wrong doings, he could at least put some things right.

Severus only figured this out when he came to his parents' home to visit them after years of not speaking with them and found them gone. The only thing left behind was a note from his mother and she only said "I am sorry, your father wanted this," and the letter had been there so long. Severus was upset that he had no idea where his parents were, especially his loving mother. He moved into the rickety old shack that was his old home and decided he would wait until she might return.

This made him recollect.

He hasn't exactly been pleased with himself through some of the events in his life. Revealing what Lupin was to the school, both petty and he knew, world shattering, but by the time he truly regretted the action, the consequences had been handed out. Snape stayed on as Potions' Professor, and Head of Slytherin until he was given his dream job and ran with it. That same year, he had a lot to do with the Malfoy family and tried to help Draco even if the boy did not want help. Near the end of the year, the Death Eaters came in to his dismay and he followed Draco to try to help and saw the shape of Dumbledore, he already knew what was happening. Albus was begging him to help and he was torn with his duty to keep Draco safe and he did the job and took Draco out of danger and refused to tell anyone where he was.

Third Person Sample:
Maybe, I'm just like father..too cold.. A thought coming through his head, but for only a moment. His eyes didn't widen but looked at Gilroy, watching as he quickly glitched in and out. Gilroy was going to definitely get a good talking to, but for now, Severus could do nothing except pretend he didn't see anything. That would give Gilroy away and Severus went about his business and acted as if nothing had happened. Severus quickly went out with his hands and grabbed both of the large cups and moved towards the cups of blood.

Abruptly, he turned on his right heel and towards the cauldron, his calculation was incredibly flawless. He started spilling them together in such a manner drop by drop, or so it seemed at the same time. Severus could have put it together, but he felt much more comfortable able to see it go in at the same time. As he was pouring it the thoughts running in his head were about the young boy for a moment. As he finished letting it slowly fall together into the potion, he then held the cups over in such a manner that it would get every drop out.

The man in black worked throughly, picked up a rather large stirring spoon and his hand moved in a zig-zag motion with abrupt movements until he was sure it was all in. The blood made the room smell fresh of death again as the blood boiling in a pink hue. However, his mind was not on the potion at the time, it was on the boy who made a grave error. He wanted to lie for Gilroy, but he needed to pretend nothing happened. The inky haired man looked with a serious expression plastering on his face as his hands found small towels. That's when he leaned down and handed one to Narcissa, then abruptly pushed one in Bellatrix's hands. " Put that on it, unless you'd rather bleed upon the floor. I'm quite sure that you would just perish the thought of dying on my floor? " Said with a questionable tone.

A snarky mouth didn't bother to say anything more, he leaned against the rickety table and had his eyebrow cocked while he waited for them to take the towels. Severus' dark eyes looked at the two as if awaiting for their health update. " I need Draco's blood, Narcissa. Quite a bit of it, I'm afraid. ".

First Person Sample:
That ridiculous man came by my house. Is it me or does just about everyone in the wizarding world know the exact position of my house? Is there something in the paper I am not aware of that has the bulletin. " Severus Snape's house: Spinner's End. Go there for fun! "

This is not my idea of fun, not by a long shot. I do not appreciate daft human beings showing up at my house unannounced. Night came with his disrespectful rambling about how we are going to bring that traitor back to life. How like Night to advise we bring a traitor back in our mitts. I do so, love that idea.

Disrespectful sod, smoking in my house.
