in character.

FULL NAME: Graham Dominic Montague the Sixth
NICKNAMES: Montague, any variation of that is unacceptable. Or Dominic (or variants of) if you're a member of his family. He never ever answers to Graham because to him that's his Dad's name... and his Granddad's and so on.
CHARACTER JOURNAL: [info]montastic

DATE OF BIRTH: 23rd July, 1978
CURRENT AGE: 20
BLOODLINE: Pureblood
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
FORMER HOUSE & YEAR: Slytherin (1989 - 1996)
OCCUPATION: Former Chaser for the Woolongong Warriors. Back home cause his contract ran out.
CURRENT RESIDENCE: Owns a flat in London, near the entrance to Diagon Alley. But currently he is staying at the Montague's manor house in Buckinghamshire.
POLITICAL VIEWS: Pro-Ministry

PARENTS: Graham Montague the Fifth and Acacia Montague (nee Burke)
SIBLINGS: None
FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS:
Graham Montague the Fifth - Father.
Acacia Montague (nee Burke) - Mother.

They are pretty much like every other pureblood family - quite closed off from each other emotionally. They can trace their family line back to the early 12th Century where there was a massive blood feud between the Montagues and the Capulets over land disputes which ended with the Montagues slaughtering all the Capulets except their daughter who was forced to marry the Montague heir. Fascinating story... was a play written about it - of course, the Muggle playwright got it completely wrong, but whatever.

Other Family
Leopold Flint - Uncle.
Belladonna Flint (nee Montague) - Aunt. Deceased.
Marcus Flint - Cousin.

The Montagues don't have much to do with the Flints after Belladonna died, which was before Dominic was born so he never really gotten to know his Uncle or cousin. He got to know Marcus at school and they were on the Slytherin Quidditch together but they aren't particularly close.

He is also related to the Burkes, of 'Borgin and Burkes' fame, through his mother but they rarely associate with them.
MARITAL STATUS: Single

MAGICAL STRENGTHS: Flying, Quidditch
MAGICAL WEAKNESSES: Potions, Transfiguration
SPECIAL MAGIC ABILITIES: None
WAND: Hawthorn, 11 inches, dragon heartstring. Sharp, direct - good at hexes and jinxes.
PATRONUS: Can not produce one.
BOGGART: The room would go completely dark. Dominic is scared of being trapped in small closed in spaces after being shoved in the Vanishing Cabinet by the Weasley Twins.

Appearance.

PB: Justin Chatwin.
Dominic stands at roughly 5'11" and has a rather lean, athletic build - perfect for being a Chaser. He has dark-brown hair which is either worn long and messy or cut-short and neat, depending on his mood, and his eyes are blue-grey. He seems to have this boyish quality about him that some people might find cute - that is until he opens his trap.

Clothes wise, Dominic dresses for comfort - much to his mother's chagrin - and it isn't rare to see him in basic jeans and t-shirts. He does own a few fancy dress robes but the times he wears them are few and far between. For work - when he is working - he wears Quidditch robes and training gear on non-match days.

Because of his love of outdoors, Dominic has slightly tanned skin and a few freckles. He is even more tanned since returning from Australia, which has a harsher sunlight, but this may fade the more time he spends back home in the UK.

Personality.

Dominic is not overly friendly and plays his true emotions close to his chest, but he isn't exactly a closed off, cold-hearted Snake either. He can be nice when he wants to be, it's just that he rarely ever wants to be nice. Being an arse is so much more fun sometimes.

He is not the most talkative person and he rarely strings a sentence together longer than a few words. He’d much rather leave the talking to his peers, only injecting something when needed. Other than that, he thinks his actions are far more adequate in getting his point across. However, if Dominic is particularly passionate about something (e.g Quidditch) he’ll talk.

He is also a bit of a smart arse, often coming out with a short sarcastic sentence, particularly in an awkward situation. Most people assume he is not all that bright and Dominic kind of prefers it that way. It means nobody asks him questions and if they do they generally get a sarcastic response. However, he is not a super genius or anything, he is just more intelligent than he lets on.

LIKES: Quidditch, flying, winning, money, women, outdoors, wide open spaces
DISLIKES: Feeling trapped, the Weasley Twins, being inside for too long, extremely crowded rooms, small spaces
HABITS: Still keeps to his training schedule despite not playing at the moment, likes to go bar hopping at least once a month (although, more often now that he is avoiding commitments).
VICES: Drinks, can be aggressive at times - particularly when stressed, keeps things bottled up.

History.

Born on the 23rd of July, 1978, Graham Dominic Montague was the apple of his mother's eye and his father's pride and joy. From early in his life the young Montague insisted on being called Dominic (or variants of) by his family because he wanted a name of his own rather than be the sixth Graham Montague running about. This independent streak was always instilled into Dominic and to this day he insists on doing things his way rather than copy everyone else.

His childhood was fairly average for someone growing up in a traditional pureblood household. He never wanted for anything but he wasn't exactly spoiled either. Dominic's father was a Ministry worker in the Department of Magical Games and Sports and often took the boy to Quidditch matches when he could get tickets. Dominic instantly fell in love with the sport and became very dedicated to learning all he could about it.

At age eleven, Dominic got his Hogwarts letter and was quickly sorted into Slytherin because of his determination to do anything to achieve his goals - which at the time was to make his parents proud and to one day join a professional Quidditch team. He was utterly gutted to learn he'd have to wait a whole year before he was allowed to play because of the no first years allowed to play rule.

It was at school Dominic got to know his cousin, Marcus Flint, a little better. They weren't particularly close growing up because Marcus' mother (Dominic's father's little sister) had died well before Dominic was born and the Montagues and the Flints went their separate ways, especially after Leopold Flint remarried. But they at least acknowledged each others existence - unlike their fathers.

In Dominic's second year he made the Slytherin Quidditch Team as a starting Chaser. He was on the team up until his final year, when he was appointed as Captain after Marcus had left school. He loved playing and would do anything for the win - including causing penalties.

In the 1993-94 school year (Dominic's fifth), Adrian Pucey, a fellow Chaser on the team became shirty toward him because Pucey had been dropped as a starting Chaser. Pucey believed the only reason Dominic was still on the Team was because he was Marcus' cousin. A reason Dominic utterly denies. Even though Dominic brought Pucey back into the starting line-up when Quidditch started again in the 1995-96 school year, the animosity was still there.

During Dominic's last year at school, Umbridge was present and he was a member of her Inquisitorial Squad upon her insistence. She had told him to join the Squad because if he didn't she'd cancel Quidditch - which was utterly unthinkable in Dominic's eyes. With the position came the power to give detentions and confiscate items that weren't allowed in the school. He received orders from Umbridge to investigate the pranks being pulled against her and discovered it was the Weasley Twins using banned items in the school. While trying to confiscate said items, the Twins pushed him into the Vanishing Cabinet, where he was trapped for a day - still able to hear goings on inside Hogwarts and Borgin and Burke's, where the other cabinet was located.

He eventually was able to escape the cabinet by apparating out of it, despite not obtaining his apparation license yet. However, the apparation was near fatal when he splinched several of his inner organs during the escape and ended up lodged in a fourth corridor toilet. Luckily Madam Pomfrey was able to heal him but he was left in a disorientated state for weeks afterward. Since the event, Dominic can't stand to be in small enclosed places and he avoids crowded rooms or anywhere that he'd start to feel claustrophobic.

Despite being in the Hospital Wing for most of April and May, Dominic was still able to take his NEWTs. The Board of Directors at the school allowed him to sit them at a later date because of the incident and he passed with As in three of his subjects and an E in Charms. He also got his apparation license that summer.

After graduation, Dominic decided to move to Australia, just to get away for a while. His parents had become increasingly over protective since the incident so he wanted the freedom being away from it all gave him. While there he tried out for the Woolongong Warriors as a Chaser and earned a year long contract with them. However, the contract has now run out and Dominic has decided not to renew it, deciding it was time to come home and try his luck in the British and Irish Quidditch League, but because it's midway through the season, he'll have to wait till after mid-season break to even get a look in at getting a start.

-----------------------------------------------------

SECRETS
The real reason behind his leaving Australia is not just that his contract was up - he would have easily just signed on for another season - but his father, Graham, is sick and there is no cure. No one outside of his mother and himself know just how bad his Dad really is as showing weakness is not something the Montagues ever want to do.

Another secret, related to the first, is that Dominic is scared about becoming the head of the family so soon into his adult life. He knows it'll happen one day but he is not prepared for it to happen now. Those close to him will figure out something is wrong because he seems to go from one extreme to the next. One moment he'll be out partying like a crazy twenty year old, the next, setting things in order and becoming more responsible in taking over the family name. He will probably break soon if he doesn't have someone he could talk to but being a Slytherin, he doesn't trust anyone to confide in.
