It...does seem a little odd that they have all manner of passwords and computer-locking, yet the people in IT can access everything anyway.
And that's good. Perhaps it was just someone attempting a harmless prank. I still hope you find them so as to at least enlighten them that their behaviour could have much more serious consequences than a prank is worth.
