Brief History: Growing up in the Dearborn household wasn’t a necessarily easy thing for the second adopted child of Caden and Charlotte. It was only 3 years after they adopted their first child, Fallon, did they decide that they wanted another child; a sister for their darling daughter. Ophelia Laine was the child they chose, a beautiful baby girl with large blue eyes, who had been placed in the orphanage after being taken away from her mother, who had been arrested due to drug related charges. Her father wanted nothing to do with her, and soon she was put up for adoption. The Dearborn’s took their new baby home, placed her in her crib, and fawned over her…that was, until Fallon caught their attention. The older girl didn’t like being ignored, and would do all that she could to catch their parents’ attention; especially their father. He practically ate out of her hand, and Charlotte couldn’t stand it. She hated that he went off to play with their daughter, and she was left to do everything else. It only got worse, when Ophelia was old enough to try to compete for attention.
For the longest time, the two girls were rivals, but when they got older and were in high school, they became extremely close. It was a little bit scary, actually. Neither one of them is shy, or has a filter, so when the two of them got together it was like a nightmare. Most of their friends were kind of scared of them, but they were totally wrapped around the girls’ fingers. They would say ‘jump’, and people would ask ‘how high’. Fallon was more frightening than Ophelia, since the younger of the two was someone who enjoyed going out to clubs, and dancing, and just having a good time. People made the mistake of thinking she was all bark and no bite, but after a few choice words and maybe even a knee to the groin, they knew better than to mess with her. Besides, she’d just sick Fallon on them if they really got her riled up. And
no one wanted that. Ophelia is actually the person responsible for cleaning up any mess that her sister makes, because she’s the only person Fallon trusts enough to do so.
Ophelia did rather well in high school, but usually fell asleep during classes because of her late job. She had gotten a fake I.D., and applied for a waitress position at the local club and lounge,
Fusion, when she was only 16 years old. She had sneaked in a few times with her friends, and had gotten the job after flirting with one of the managers. It was a tactic she used quite often, to get her way. After high school, she kept her job at the club, but would get another job during the day time as a per diem bank teller. This allowed her to go to college during the day time, and keep her other job. It was actually
because of her night job that she found out about her powers. She had been in the bathroom, and was applying some lip gloss, when a drunken mess of a girl stumbled next to her. Lia raised a brow, and then snorted before looking back to the mirror. The girl caught the noise, and became defensive, yelling at Ophelia, who remained unaffected. She actually laughed. “Do everyone a favor sweetheart. Don’t go back inside.
Stay right here, in the bathroom…it’s where pieces of shit belong. You’ll feel right at home.” Giving her a wink, she turned around and walked back inside…but wasn’t followed. A few hours later, she went back into the bathroom, and saw the girl just standing there, in the same spot, looking bewildered. She had listened? Interested, Ophelia stepped closer, and told her to stand on one leg. She did. She also wound up clucking like a chicken, and touching her nose. Eventually, she told her to leave, and was left alone to try and figure out what had just happened. No one could be drunk enough to do all of that...
She told Fallon about everything…which might have been a big mistake, because at one point, when Lia was extremely angry at her sister, she told her that the only thing she was allowed to say was her own name until she apologized for setting one of her possessions on fire, because she flirted with her boyfriend…who broke up with her that day. Fallon wasn’t happy when she realized she couldn’t speak, and attacked Ophelia until she told her she could speak again. To this day, Lia still has scars from Fallon’s rings. It wasn’t
her fault that her sister was single…sort of.
Ophelia uses her powers often, but is careful to not be excessive in case she gets caught. The last thing she needs is people knowing she’s…persuasive, and then avoid her. That wouldn’t be very much fun at all.
[Excuse the shitty history...I wrote it at 5:00 am.]Brief Description of Power Capabilities: If Ophelia tells you to do something, you are going to
do it. You don't have a choice. She can whisper into your ear, and demand you to jump up and down on one foot, singing the Boy Meets World theme, and you will.
