I never thought I had anything vested in it. That was part of the deal between us - that we wouldn't have an emotional relationship, but a purely physical one that wouldn't effect our friendship, or our status as teammates...but then he started avoiding me like I had the plague, but he never explained why and I never thought to ask because then it would seem like I was hurt by it.
And I was, but I couldn't let him know that, because then things would have gotten strained between us as teammates because it would have gotten weird, so I just acted like nothing was wrong.
When the Arrows approached me, I thought I'd be getting a fresh start with a brand new team, leaving behind all my dirty laundry in Montrose. I never felt like I really belonged there anyway, regardless of everything that happened, and now he's not only going to be my teammate again but my captain.
How am I supposed to discuss something like that with him? What if he was avoiding me for so long for a reason, and finding out what that reason is will only make me feel like a complete idiot for the entire season?
