VRAI. His mother is a famous poet, you know.
VRAI. Oli (pronounced oh-lee) or Ol (all) or Oliver. Not Ollie. Ever.
VRAI. The one thing his father did give him, other than his striking green eyes, was a love of birds. It probably stemmed from that oft-used metaphor of his mother as a bird that "just needed to stretch her wings for a while, son," but Gregor Olivier is the one who taught him ornithology, so he can attribute that to his dad, kind of.
VRAI. The one thing his mother gave him was the name Oliver Olivier. He's still not sure if he forgives her.
VRAI. He plays the organ recreationally, but likes it too much to ever consider studying it. He also plays piano, violin, cello, clarinet, and has enough of a voice to be considered a vocalist.
VRAI. Oli is a horrible student because he can't follow the curriculum but an excellent musician because he can't follow the curriculum.
VRAI. Oli isn't so much a polymath as he is very, very good at seemingly unrelated things. He has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of birds, is an innovative musician, can remember unimportant details about films or songs with little trouble, and is bilingual. He's also been B/C student since 8th grade. C'est, comme on dit, la vie.
VRAI. A multiple synesthete, Oli tastes words and sees colors in timbres and chords. To him, composition is like painting a picture, only easier, because he can't draw a straight line to save his goddamn life. He's easily annoyed when his compositions don't evoke the colors he anticipated.
VRAI. Ol is a trivia freak. He watches shows like QI, Jeopardy, and Ripley's Believe It or Not religiously. He likes to have things to pepper into conversations.
VRAI. Oli's greatest ambition is to compose something that sounds convincingly like a birdsong symphony.
HELAS. His father was a park ranger, and his mother left when he was three. That doesn't keep him from bragging about his mother's illustrious career in poetry or pretending his father doesn't exist, of course. Funny how loyalty works.
