No you didn't If you shaved it all off, you wouldn't have this problem!
I think I'd be a bit worried if you didn't feel bad. The muggles don't even have a chance to say 'hey, maybe magic isn't all that bad and we won't revolt and try to slay all of you down' even though that's basically what our own people are doing to each other, but anyway.
