He can't help but think 'Not good enough' but knows that voicing that would annoy her so doesn't say it even if his face might betray it. "You're biased," is all he says even if he thinks she should be biased in the opposite way.
Thomas reaches out to catch the hand that had been pushing the hair out of his face and he tries to change the subject. "I should get a haircut." It was getting a bit longer than he was used to or comfortable with. He wasn't Dick or Tim that could pull off a bit longer hair.
