We meet again
It was late that night and she was getting chilly. But she had to figure out everything she could about the place she had to hit up in a few nights. Her boss wanted her to plant some listening devices so they could spy on the competition.

Also there were a few things on his shopping list she wanted to try picking up. She was trying to butter him up for information. The wind picks up again and Sarah had to bite the inside of her teeth to keep her teeth from chattering as she slides back into the shadows.

And suddenly she is aware she isn't alone.

He's been lurking in the shadows for a bit, having followed her for a few blocks. But he figures he'll make his presence known now.

"So, what's on the menu for tonight? By the way, glad to see you got out of those cuffs in time." There's a smirk on his face. Of all the criminal elements he's run into tonight, this one is his favourite encounter by far. Not that there's much competition really.

She feels like she might jump out of her skin. But she instead turns to stare at him for a moment.

"No B and E, just so you know. Just taking in the sights." Meaning she's scoping places out. He should be able to guess that though.

"I still have them," she can't help but say. "Just at home.... I love having trophies. Who knows, if you play well I might give them back to you."

Oh? He takes note of the location she's scouting, it should give clues to who she's working for.

He stares right back with a small smile, "I've got tons, you can keep them. But I'll play along anyway, what's tonight's game? I figure you've had enough time to finish scoping it out. So when I see you here another night it'll be more of a competition." Robin's egging her on now, hoping to goad her into something. He's not sure what he expects, only that she intrigues him.

She considers him and gets in his space a little. It woulds be fun to play with him a bit. It's rare that she gets to really test herself.

"Okay then Boy Wonder," she teases backing away before either of them is tempted for contact.

"How about a race?" She grins at him. "From here to the Gotham Museum of art. Then we finish off at the Zoo, meeting up near that new addition to the Bird House. The parrots should be sleeping. The real trick is making sure they don't wake up."

	He lets her come in close without moving away. If anyone asks he'll say it's because he's confident he can handle her if she decides to do anything, but really that's not his reason. 	There's a tilt of his head and a laugh. "I've got home team advantage. So ladies first." The Art Museum and the zoo are two of his favourite places in the city, and he breaks into them often. He'll give her the headstart. Just to make this more fun. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He gives her a wink. "Gentleman at heart." There's a full minute wait before he takes off too, he waits until he loses sight of her in the distance before figuring she has enough of a headstart. 	She can't help how much she is grinning. Robin has made her night. And yes she might be pushing herself a little hard to get over or around the biggest buildings in her way but she wants him to take her seriously. He's enjoying himself immensely. It's the first time in a while he's not thought about the fact that this isn't his Gotham. And chasing her? Well there's nothing that's not good about that.

He knows the easy routes to the museum but purposefully takes some of the more challenging ones that force him to scale to the top. It's the dives down that are the fun part anyway.

She just keeps going. She can make him out whenever she looks but she won't let that throw her off.

Somehow she makes it to the Museum with time to spare. She wonders how to her him know. So she slips one of the straps off hat has a fox emblem on it and hangs it so he'll find it. She trusts he will give it back or she can just steal it back.

And she is off again as fast as she can.

	He finds the fox emblem shortly after she leaves it and privately decides to keep it as a souvenir. A smirk and he's off again. Except this time he'll be taking the shortcut. 	He'll beat her. But not because of his reach. Sarah won't complain about it but something went funny with her grappling hook and she had to hold n for dear life while she fixed it. 	The master thief hanging on for dear life? Best part of the night so far. He chuckles to himself and swings on, confident she can handle herself just fine. Soon he's past the zoo entrance and making a break for the tiger cage. All that's left is the tree and to wait with a smirk for her to come. Let's hope she doesn't wake the tigers. He turns slowly around to see her. There's no surprise on his face, and he'll never admit it, but she caught him off guard for a second there. But he's going to obey Catwoman's Rule #1: Never show surprise. If Batman catches you on the roof of Cartier, turn and greet him as if you knew he was there all along.

It must work both ways. "Are you seriously surprised?" He gestures to the spot next to him on the branch. "Don't worry, the tigers are sleeping and I don't bite."

	She's shivering slightly from the cold. All their racing hadn't changed that fact. "Not even if I ask nicely," she teases as she drops next to him. In the almost full dark she probably looks like a smooth outline of woman encased in body armor. The leather hugs her pretty tightly and protectively. He says nothing until she sits down. "Well...if you ask really nicely I might change my policy." With a tug he pulls his cape to drape over her but keeps his hands at his sides on the branch.

"And where is this exotic non-freezing place you come from? I can't imagine not having to deal with this weather." Maybe he can learn something about her background, and if he needs to direct his most charming smile her way so be it.

	He's only got a passing familiarity with the language, enough to recognize it and maybe order off a menu. A mischevious smirk back and he leans in to whisper in italian so his breath tickles her ear, "Quite the enigma aren't we?" 	She can't speak Italian but she understands it. This little game is making her blush though. She switches to French next. "It makes life interesting, Detective. I'd love to see what you could figure out," she mutters guessing he might understand French too. She hadn't meant to give that up to him but he has her pleasantly distracted. It doesn't even occur to him that maybe he shouldn't be doing this. He can't even think at the moment, it just registers that she's kissing him and he doesn't want it to stop.

One of his arms snakes around her waist to pull her closer and kiss her deeper.

It'll hit him later that he shouldn't do this. Especially not with someone he should be catching doing crime but...nobody knows. And he can bend a few rules right now, he'll deal with the aftermath later.

	Her life has never been safe. Not that she can recall anyways. She's though very willing to let him touch her. So long as he doesn't start to undo the buckles on her suit she's okay with this. He's fully aware that there's a difference between danger and purposefully playing with fire. This falls into the latter category.

When she starts to hold onto him his innerBatman is telling him of all the damage she can do in this position, and how vulnerable he is like this. He tells his innerBatman to go away and stop being a hypocrite.

Thomas adjust his position on the branch so he can wrap his other arm around her too and lean in more. The tigers could be all watching now and he wouldn't notice.

	And obviously the innerBatman needs to not be here while Sarah is nearly crawling into his lap at this point. She doesn't care that she can't trust him or anyone else. Part of him is sure she'll use this against him later, maybe to wriggle out of his grasp on her next job, or to trap him for her boss. He can't trust her...so why is he letting this happen? And what's worse is that he's not only letting her almost crawl into his lap...he's helping her do it.

He needs to pull away now, nip this in the bud before it goes any further...but damnit he'll let the spell linger for a bit longer. It's probably not going to happen again, and part of him will probably regret it if he's the one to break it off now. He shouldn't be giving her so much control over him...

The kiss gets broken and there she is just a hair away from him with slightly parted lips and almost breathing heavily. She just gives him a bewildered look because this... this isn't something she understood.

Her teacher always said to not let anyone get close. They'd just die like she knew her parents had. Or taken away where she couldn't save them like him.

And she genuinely likes Robin. He's obviously a good guy.

So she feels with a shot of her grappling hook and a leap.

When she pulls back he catches himself staring at her, holding his breath with lips still parted. He can see it in her eyes just like she probably saw it in his, the moment of 'what am I doing?'. And when she disappears he makes no move to follow her, he only watches her retreat.

He had done it now. Screwed up. She was supposed to be the 'enemy'. The ones you never trusted, or let get that close. But honestly, and he'd never admit this aloud, thieves for hire were hardly real criminals in his book. And it wasn't like there wasn't precedent...stop it. Now. Just because he liked her didn't mean she got a pass. And it didn't mean he should let this continue.

But he wishes he could.
