[Had a sort of accident. Was out climbing trees (likes climbing trees, even more so in winter when they're bare and easier to grab hold of), playing by himself after school like usual, when one of the branches broke and he took a tumble to the ground. Luckily wasn't that high, but managed to gouge his hand pretty good on a sharp rock below. Good enough that even wrapping it in the scarf he was wearing hasn't stopped the bleeding, and had quite a long walk back to the house (ventured far into the woods), feeling kind of light-headed. Doesn't like the look of his bloody scarf, afraid to take it off and look at his hand. Tries to put on a brave face for everything, but doesn't do well with wounds.]

Okaa-san? [Calls as he gets inside, quickly kicking off his boots and wandering through the house. Remembers his mother is out today, and his father is working, of course. Starts to feel anxious.] Nii-san? [Please be home, please home. Can't remember if he has cram school today or not.]

[that is tomorrow so he is home, in the kitchen preparing a snack for himself and Sasuke for when he comes home. made them both tomato sandwiches and poured a glass of milk for his brother and strawberry milk for himself, taking them over to the table knowing he should be home soon.]

... Sasuke? [doesn't sound like his normal, cheerful self. goes out to greet him instead, tilting his head to the side looking at the scarf around his hand. stares at it for a couple of seconds until he starts to clearly see the blood mixed into the patterns.] What happened? [quickly comes over and kneels down in front of him, taking his hand gently by the wrist, unwrapping the makeshift bandage.] Can you move your fingers? [already three steps ahead in planning, looking across the kitchen to make sure the phone is in place to call for help if needed, over to the numbers on the fridge, those in case of an emergency ones. at least in time of crisis, he has a good head on his shoulders.]

[Feels relief bubble through him when he hears his brother's voice, trotting instantly toward the sound. Bites his lip when Itachi looks him over, feeling guilty for getting into trouble even if it was just an accident, especially when Itachi spots his arm and comes over, looking concerned.] I was ... studying insects for science class and I climbed a tree to get a closer look, and the branch broke and I fell. [God forbid he just admit he was playing like a normal ten-year-old, but needs to make up a better story than that, especially for when his father comes home.]

[Looks away instantly when Itachi unwraps the scarf, not wanting to look at the cut, it makes him queasy. Tentatively wiggles his fingers, wincing because it hurts. But nothing's broken.] Does it need stitches? [Asks, still afraid to look himself.]

[studys the wound.] The flow of blood is too much for a simple cut but you could have cut a capillary and they weep significantly. Let me clean you up first and then we can tell if you do or if butterfly bandages are enough. Hold onto me if you feel woozy. [stands up and carefully cradles his hand, sideways shuffling towards the bathroom.] Where you playing games up in the tree or just climbing? [can't fool him. what ten year kid doesn't want to have fun?"

[Risks a glance at the wound, but looks away right away, the sight of all the blood definitely unsettling him. Follows Itachi to the bathroom, glad he's going to take care of it, feeling a lot better now. Itachi knows everything, is in good hands. Can't help but flush in embarrassment even with the situation when his brother calls him on playing, looking guilty.] I might have been ... climbing just for fun. There's a squirrel who comes and sees me every day and I give him peanuts sometimes. I was looking for him.

Did you give it a name? [trickles cool water over the wound. wash away that icky mess.] Some people form attachments enough to name them even though they are creatures of the wild. I had bird that came to visit me that I called Michael and every day it would cheep outside of my window, it must have been young. Father always complained how loud he was and he woke him up. [turns off the water and pats away the left overs. hmm. still bleeding but not that bad. this looks like a job for butterfly stitches at least until mom gets home.] Naming an animal that is not yours can have a downside too as you form an emotional attachment to it.

Michael? [Looks amused.] Why Michael? I didn't name the squirrel, 'cause -- [Winces as Itachi runs water over the cut, making a little 'itai' noise.] 'Cause he's not a pet. I thought you should only name pets. Why did we never have a pet? I've always wanted one. I want a puppy. Do you like puppies? I think a little puppy would be so cute. [Is talking kind of quickly, mostly to keep his mind off of the pain emanating from his cut, btu is also just able to relax a little more when he's with his brother, even if it takes a minute or two for him to become himself around him. Puts up airs around everyone else, trying to be an adult and perfect, but with Itachi he always feels comfortable enough to let down those walls.]

It was a common bird, I believe it should have a common name. I didn't want anything cliche in the line of naming animals like colors or picking on features. I was not going to name it after a television character [not that he watches much of that anyway] and I was unaware of how long it would be there. I was able to call it over or try to with a name. [can be long winded too but not on the scale that people would be interested in. gets the bandage out and starts puling the skin together and sticking them on. be careful not to hurt.] I like them more than cats. You can be active with them and run around. The reason I can think of to why we don't have a pet, is because of the housing situation and father doesn't seem to be the one who would like a pet. What kind of a puppy would you like? One that grows up big or small? Do you know of a breed that you would like?

[Thinks that makes sense. Will have to be careful naming a pet in the future, if he ever gets one.] Hmm. [Thoughtful.] I want a big dog. A smart one that you can teach all kinds of tricks. One that likes to swim, too. [Loves swimming.] And will fetch sticks and balls. What kind would that be?

A Labrador comes to mind. They are very playful dogs and love to chase balls into the water. They are smart because they are used for service dogs to help people with disabilities and they are very loyal. They are short haired too which makes it good for grooming them and they love company. That sounds like what you want. [gets out the bandage from the cupboard and starts to cover the wound for extra security. we don't want no germs and disease.] You are all finished. How does that feel? Not too tight?

[Looks over as he finishes the bandage, glad the wound is covered. Flexes his hand slightly, just to make sure he's not going to pop the bandage open, and nods.] It feels good. Thanks, nii-san. Do you think otou-san will ever let us get a dog? [Wonders, resting his hand in his lap, not wanting to move it around too much so it can hopefully stop bleeding soon.]

Truthfully, I do not think so. [goes about cleaning up the mess while he is talking so that way no one can complain that they left a mess.] If we lived by ourselves and not with aunt and uncle as well as their family, we could have stood a chance to get one but with them, there is not enough room. If there was some benefit out of a pet then perhaps we could get one. We could ask if we can. There is no harm in trying.

I think Izuna would like a puppy. I don't know about Madara, though. [Looks kind of worried, like he's afraid Madara might end up killing it or something.] Maybe for Christmas. If I mention it to okaa-san ... she always tries to get us what we want. [Has been trying to think of what he wants for Christmas, but it's been difficult. Always has trouble, because the kid in him wants toys and games, but feels almost embarrassed asking for what he really wants. Like he should ask for books and clothes instead. It would be more practical, after all.] What will you ask for Christmas?

He does have the aura of a puppy person. [holds out his hand for Sasuke to take, going together into the kitchen where there is less mess except for the drips he needs to clean up. after playing, he used to get hungry and assumes Sasuke is the same too. makes him a sandwich and pours a glass of milk, putting it on the table and returning with some strawberry milk for himself.] I do not know what I would like for Christmas, I would be happy with whatever they got me. It will more than likely be clothes as they are more practical. The kids at school all talk about XBox, I am curious about it so an XBox I suppose would be a good choice.

[Takes Itachi's free hand, following him to the kitchen. Looks excited at the prospect of a sandwich, sitting down eagerly at the kitchen table and taking his sandwich, biting into it. Mmm, tomato, just how he likes. Noms his sandwich and sips his milk, looking up curiously when Itachi mentions the XBox.] Yeah, a lot of kids like that. I think it's between that and the PS3. I haven't ever played either, though. Games ... games take up too much time. [Says. He's a big boy, only kids play games!]

People use the argument that it increases motor skills and reflexes. I could understand hand and eye coordination. There are new ones that use your entire body to control the game which I think it is initiative being that gaming is said to make you lazy. This way, people can get active while having fun. Ingenious I think. Izuna could use one.

[Laughs when Itachi says Izuna could use one, nodding in agreement.] You're talking about those motion sensor games, right? Like the Wii. I played a fighting game on that. It was pretty fun, actually. [Admits, glancing around like he's worried someone else will overhear him actually saying he likes gaming.] It's fun to make the person you're playing with get mad when you beat them over and over again. [Smirks. Might be talking about a specific person rather than people in general.]

There would be a sense of enjoyment in beating someone, after all, most humans are competitive. One day I might be able to experience this or we could put that forth as a Christmas present as a back up if you would prefer the puppy as a first offer.

If you want an XBox, you should ask for one. I don't think we'd get a puppy even if we did ask for one ... it's much more likely they'd buy the game console. [Although doesn't doubt Fugaku would frown at that request, too. Simply because he'd rather his children be studying than playing 'useless' games any day.]

We could always get you to ask for it. Okaasan never turns you down. She then puts the idea towards Otousan and if he tries to reject it, she will set him straight.

[Smiles a little.] That's true. If I help her in the garden for a few days and then ask, she can't say no. She loves when I help her in the garden.

You could even try for a dog that way. I believe you can do it, once you know the ways of manipulating one parent, you can easily get the other to follow. Do not tell them that I am aware of that, there is a good chance they will try to opposite effect if they know. [sips his strawberry milk. yes, yes, it is all too perfect.]
