A Cult in the Closet -- Test Scene
Africa wasn't exactly the last place Akilah figured the Cult of Cthon would put down some roots, but considering she hadn't made her presence unknown...

More ironically, they'd settled down in a village in Kenya. Akilah stalked the outskirts of the village, waiting until the right opportunity came to infiltrate. Knowing the CoC, they'd already sensed her presence and were waiting for her to enter. But the Tarot Cards had given her a heads up on the possibility for backup.

	Martin was doing his usual teleport testing. It was one of his best spells but you needed to practice anyway. Besides, it was fun and led him to interesting places. Today's teleport was a bit farther than usual, to Kenya. He liked picking places where there was magic. So a young man, standing on a blue magic disc appears in a swirl of blue flame high in the sky. 	And up high in the sky, he might notice that Akilah took this exact moment to make her move on the small village. It was non-aggressive; simply her walking up to the village. But a bolt of green energy was blasted her way, which she deflected with a magical shield. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The flash of green light catches his eye, but even if he hadn't seen it would have captured his attention. Sensing magic things like that was a second nature for most sorcerers. Even ones in training.

So there's another whoosh of blue flame around the disc he was sitting on and Martin teleports slightly behind Akilah, but enough to the side that'd she see him out of the corner of her eye. He didn't want her thinking he was an attacker too. Besides, something about her magic presence was familiar, like he'd run into it before.

"What're they attacking you for?"

	Akilah noticed the presence, but had trust in her Tarots. She assumed that his sudden presence was her foretold backup. "They are part of the Cult of Chthon." Simple answer, yes. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Oh. Those guys." It's clear from the way he says it that they're more of an annoyance in his book than anything else. Cults were dull and rarely interesting to deal with. If only they weren't so crazy devout maybe there'd be some interest, but not much you could do about that.

Martin throws up one of his discs to act as a shield from any blasts. "Have we met before by the way? Your magic is a familiar flavour." And odd statement to most people but it was hard to describe the way each magician's magic felt different.

There is a brief moment of recognition at seeing the disc, but Akilah couldn't immediately place it. That was something that would nag at her until she placed it.

"It's possible," she replied while holding her shield. It was best to stay on the defensive while she got acquainted with this boy. "My magic is rooted with the Bright Lady and the Vishanti. There are some who have similar roots with the Vishanti."

	"I have met the Sorcerer Supreme once, yes." Then it dawned on her, who this boy might be. She couldn't be so sure, but it was possible. "He had with him a young boy with magic similar to yours, though he was of a younger age." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Lots of people came to Dr. Strange for mystic reasons. It was hard to keep all the names and faces straight, and lots of the less known spandex set were just colorful costumes to him. But while faces could be forgotten, magic was harder to forget. If she'd been visiting long enough for him to remember her sort of magic then clearly she'd been good enough not to be turned away at the door. Add more respect points.

"Oh! Yes, that was me," he beams with pride. "We had a dimensional mishap, you know the kind, and ended up looking a few years older than I am even if my mind didn't change. But yes, I'm his apprentice! What's your name?" He could vaguely remember her visit now, but wasn't going to hazard a guess for her name and get it very wrong. And it was a better question than: who are you?

"I see," Akilah commented. Such things were not uncommon among magical beings. If he truly was that same boy, then his name would be Martin. She remembered him more clearly now, though only from the brief moments she'd seen him.

"I am Akilah Munroe," she replied. "Princess of Wakanda. It is a pleasure to be re-acquainted. I believe your name was Martin?"

Shield still holding, but the force of the attacks begged for Akilah to be ready to switch into more evasive and attacking modes of combat.

"Yep, Martin!" He takes off his hat to her in a flourish and grins. "Nice to meet you again too. What do you like to be called better?" Because there were names and titles she'd given, he didn't know which to pick.

While talking he's been switching out the magic discs acting as shields to prevent one from taking too much damage and breaking. Conjuring new ones was easy.

	"Akilah is fine," she said, though that may change if they are ever in a situation where her royalty was a priority. "Now that we have exchanged pleasantries, let's deal with the Cult of Chthon in this village." She gave a nod in Martin's direction and let her shield down. She dodge a bolt and threw a bolt of mystical energy at a cultist in her line of sight. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Awesome, it's always good to test new spells against guys like these," he smiles as he conjures up more discs as shields until he has a row of them. 	With Martin using sweeping attacks, the cultists' had their attention more focused on him. That was perfect, as it allowed Akilah more opportunities to make precise strike. She cast out spells that started paralyzing cultists one by one. All she needed was for their attention to remain on Martin while she worked. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

When the row of discs has done it's battering ram routine and broken, new discs innocently appear flat on the ground where most of the attackers will need to walk over. Most won't notice one larger one floating above their heads.

With that telepathic message to her it becomes clear what he's doing. Combining his two best spells in the same way he'd done so when they'd had invaders in the HQ. Discs and teleportation spells. Every time a cultist stepped on a disc flat on the ground, they were instantly teleported to the larger floating one and went plummeting to the ground where they'd land in a heap for easy pickings.

That was a very smart trick on Martin's part, and extremely useful. Dr. Strange had picked a great apprentice in this one. Akilah took advantage of the piling cultists and performed a spell to paralyze them en mass.

That was an impressive spell, Martin.

With the cultists taken care of and paralyzed, she walked closer to Martin and took a look at the captive cultists. The Bright Lady would be glad to hear of this small victory.

"Perhaps now it is time that I return home and inform the Bright Lady of this victory," Akilah replied aloud. "She will inform me of how to further deal with these cretins."

She shot a disgusted look at the cultists, and then looked back to Martin.

"You should inform Dr. Strange of this incident, if you can. Although the Cultists of Chthon have always formed in small gatherings like this, the Bright Lady has been uneasy about them as of late."
