Remus had been about to say something about kidnapping, and about how Sirius most certainly wasn't going to kidnap him or take him anywhere, but then Sirius went and whispered in his ear and Remus melted. His eyes closed and he replied with a rather strangled, "Why?" Sirius was going to be the death of him, he was sure of it.
He resisted to urge to just pull him around and kiss him. Sirius couldn't just do that; it would have been much too easy. "Because," he whispered once Remus had closed his eyes, "I want you to be surprised."
Sirius moved from beside Remus to right behind him, holding his sides and guiding him to where he had hidden the motorcycle. His face was much too close to Remus's neck, but he tried not to think about it. Once they were about three feet away from the motorcycle, Sirius whispered, "Okay. You can open them."
Remus didn't know if he could open his eyes. Remus didn't know if he was really thinking clearly with Sirius' face right beside his neck. He could feel Sirius' breath on his neck. He could feel it and it was killing him. And he kept whispering. Remus was certain he was going to die.
Still, somehow he managed to open his eyes. He gasped when he saw the motorcycle and took an unconscious step back. And ran into Sirius. Oh dear Merlin, he was screwing everything up today, wasn't he? He turned his head to look at Sirius. "You-you rode that thing?"
Sirius was going to be more careful around Remus, keep his distance, but he somehow couldn't. His hands stayed rooted at Remus's waist, and he pretended that he had forgotten they were there completely. He was mildly surprised when Remus turned his head, so close to his face, but Sirius couldn't find the sense to move at all.
He nodded his head with a slight grin. "I rode that thing. Her name is Stella." His grin widened a bit, and he looked rather mischievous. "Do you want to ride her?"
At that, Remus knew just how bad of an influence James and Sirius had been on his life because numerous jokes involving 'riding' popped into his brain. And then, he remembered Sirius' hands on his waist and all of the jokes disappeared from his mind. "Stella," he murmured. Of course, leave it to Sirius to name a motorcycle after a character in a Tennessee Williams play.
"No. No, I do not want to ride Stella, as you call her," Remus told him, trying to fathom what in the world could be going through Sirius' mind. "Why would I want to ride her, really? I hate heights. And loud things. And motorcycles. Did I tell you?" He raised an eyebrow.
He shook his head in disbelief. "Remus," he started. "Remus, Remus, Remus. Do you think you have a choice in the matter?" Sirius asked, a shit-faced grin plastered on his face. "I'm taking you with me, whether you'd like it or not. I have a surprise for you!"
Sirius sighed. How naive he really was! "Of course, I'll be on there with you and I'll keep you safe. I even have a seat for you!" Sirius looked absolutely delighted as he pointed to an attachment to the motorcycle, which included its own seat belt and helmet.
Remus eyed it warily. "No." He was quite definite in his answer. He would not be getting on that thing. No matter what. He looked at Sirius pleadingly. "Please, Sirius. Don't make me. It's dangerous. I'll die. And if I die bad things will happen. Like, like. Er..." Remus couldn't think of anything.
He shook his head. "Do you really think I'd let anything happen to you?" he asked. "I'm almost insulted! So insulted that I'm making you get on Stella and ride her with me." Sirius paused and smiled at the little play on words. "It's not dangerous, I promise. It's going to be just fine. Sirius squeezed his waist gently to reassure him.
Oh, apparently Remus was ticklish, judging from the fact that he squirmed when Sirius squeezed his hips. Perhaps it was just because it was Sirius, though, and the fact that Remus still wanted to kiss him. A lot. "I- I can't." His voice was all strangled sounding again. He'd blame it on fear. "I- My parents. They'll- They wouldn't like it. I can't." He shook his head.
