Personality and History: Life has not been the easiest thing for Rubeus Hagrid. But he's never let the downfalls and hardships dealt to him seriously affect his outlook on life. The son of a giant and a wizard, Hagrid has always--stuck out (to say the least). The memory of his mother, Fridwulfa, is very faint. She left him and Brimley when he was only 3. But things weren't so bad for the Hagrid men. They made it through things, and Rubeus's height made things around the house quite easy for his father.

Hagrid vividly remembers his years at Hogwarts--when he received his letter, his first trip on the Hogwarts Express, all the things he learned as a student, finding his first pet Aragog. There are many good memories from then, but he also remembers the whispers of his peers, the letter he received as a second year informing him of his father's death, and his unfortunate encounter with Tom Riddle.

His third year at Hogwarts was a rather shaky one--there were muggleborns being petrified left and right, and no one knew who was the culprit for it--or even what was causing these unfortunate mishaps. Hagrid had stumbled upon a small acromantula on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest in April of 1943. He named the spider Aragog and kept him in a basket down in the dungeons of the school. He'd tried to be careful about it, he really did, but Tom Riddle found out. Rather than take the downfall of opening the Chamber of Secrets, he framed Hagrid and Aragog. Hagrid was expelled from school, but managed to protect his baby by setting him up in the Forbidden Forest.

Hagrid had nowhere to go after his expulsion, but Albus Dumbledore took him under his wing. Dumbledore argued to allow Hagrid to stay on the grounds at Hogwarts and work with Ogg, the current keeper of the grounds and keys, and assist him with work in the Forbidden Forest and around the campus. Headmaster Dippet was very reluctant to agreed to this arrangement, and Hagrid was placed in his current home. Life at Hogwarts was strange, especially when his peers were still students, but he enjoyed his work. He got to explore the forest, keep things in check. And his affection for the bizarre was fed through the tasks that Ogg would assign to him.

Hagrid has always looked to Albus Dumbledore as a father figure. He is fiercely loyal to him and will do anything which Dumbledore asks of him, usually without question or complaint.

Gryffindor Sagittarius: Gryffindors born under this sign are exuberant and full of good humour. They are intelligent, but often do not make the best of students, because they would rather be outside enjoying the fresh air or off studying on their own. They aren't good at diplomatic silence; if a teacher makes a mistake, the Gryffindor Sag will draw attention to it right away, usually loudly and in front of the entire class. At length. These students can get into trouble - their hot tempers make for easy dueling matches, and their impish senses of humour inspire a great many practical jokes. Still, they rarely mean anything malicious. They're too jovial to harbour malice. These Gryffindors are likeable extraverts, on good terms with practically everybody, and they generally do all right in the end. Many excellent Quidditch players come from this sign.
and suddenly everything's right; everyone's smiling it's so inviting
