Personality

Kaylea is warm and friendly. She has a loving, caring nature and is probably incapable of being mean to anyone. She's definitely a bit naive and it's easy to take advantage of her. Kaylea believes there is good in everyone. Even when people are mean to her, she believes that deep down they are good people and she pities them for whatever horrible thing must have happened to make them so mean. The girl doesn't have a mean or vindictive bone in her body.

She's loyal to a fault. When she cares about someone, it won't matter how badly they treat her or how much they hurt to. Once she's your friend, she's your friend for life and she'll stick by you no matter what. Her love and faith in someone is pretty much unshakable.

Kaylea has a lot of passion for the things she believes in, though most people don't see it, because she's quiet by nature. She'll put her all into pursuing the things she enjoys, she'll give up everything for the people she loves, but she's very soft-spoken, even when she's angry. She very rarely loses her temper or raises her voice.

Kaylea loves to read and research things. She's curious enough to have nearly been a Ravenclaw, but in the end her sense of loyalty pushed her in with the badgers. She can often be found curled up with a book, whether she's reading for pleasure or for class.

Kaylea works hard for the things she wants or feels strongly about. Even her weaker classes she did pretty well in, because she worked so hard at them. She misses school and a part of her is sorry she didn't get the chance to go to college. She would never hold that against Jeremy, though. She loves him and she knows she is just as much to blame for the change in her life's plan.

Kaylea sees the best in people. She's loving and extremely loyal to the people she cares about, but she also tries to see the best in people she doesn't even know. She has the belief that every person has some inherent good in them and even when someone treats her badly, she tries to figure out why they act that way rather than taking personal offence.

Background

Kaylea was born the only child of Charles and Rebecca Shay in Savannah, Georgia. Her father, a college professor, has always been a little strict with her. She attended a Christian school, attended church every Sunday and has always been more than a little sheltered.

Kaylea's quiet nature didn't make her a ton of close friends at school, but she's always had a handful of girlfriends. She spent a good bit of her time studying or reading and she didn't socialise much, especially with boys. Prior to meeting Jeremy Pitt, Kaylea had never dated a boy, had never been kissed or touched in any way. School and family always come first with her and she really never had the time for boys or really felt the need to pursue anything beyond friendship with them.

Keylea's academic career was always important to her. She worked hard for the good grades she earned in school while she was undecided as to what she wanted to do in the future, she knew she wants it to be something important, to make a real difference in people's lives. She was considering several possible careers and majors during high school and her determination earned her a full scholarship of Oxford.

Rewarded with a summer trip traveling around Europe for graduation, Kaylea found herself meeting a handsome wizard named Jeremy Pitt one night while dining in a cozy little pub. The two shared a few drinks and before she knew it, she was dancing with him and sharing her first kiss with the handsome, green-eyed stranger.

Kaylea fell quickly for Jeremy, giving her virginity and her heart to him. She was sorry to see their time together come to an end, but he promised to write and she hoped it wouldn't be the last she saw him.

As it turned out, it wasn't the last time, but their reunion didn't exactly happen the way she dreamed it would. Shortly after returning after her own home, Kaylea discovered she was pregnant. Her parents flipped out, needless to say and she was left with little more than Jeremy's name and the knowledge that he was from England. It took her some time to track him down, but eventually she found herself on his parents doorstep and a few hours later, she was face to face with Jeremy.

What the future will bring is anybody's guess - short of the fact that they are definitely having this baby, but Kaylea does know that she loves Jeremy and would do anything to make him happy.
