1. Zanna had prodded him into it, saying that taking an apprentice was the natural evolution of any magician's own growth and education. As it happened, he'd practically taken the words out of Ash's mouth when he came to her.

"Uh... ap-ap-apprentice? Yours? I... uh... yesplease." She blushed.

The following few years actually had a lot of blushing in store for Ash. She was an apt pupil, and Zach always gave praise where it was due. To say nothing of how she was always more than a little starstruck by Zach. Hey, it was totally fair. Man knows how to wear a suit. Or less... sometimes a lot less.

Zach, for his part, loved being a teacher, and he and Ash generally hit it off like a house on fire. To say they were close was putting it mildly, but as she got older, it got a little blurry as to what the relationship was defined as. It was nothing like teaching Sindella or Avia, that was for sure...

2. "So... this is a 'thing' between us, isn't it?" Zach asked awkwardly.
Ash nodded, blushing pink.
"And the age difference isn't an issue for you?"
She shook her head fervently.
Zach paused, then smirked. "If I check your bag, am I going to find a toothbrush and a change of clothes for tomorrow?"
"...maybe..."
He put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her cheek softly. "I'm okay with seeing where this goes, then."

3. As it turned out, it went not just to the next morning, but through the three-day weekend they were enjoying. Intensely enjoying, at that. Ash marveled at his flexibility, and Zach was happily surprised at how eager to please she was.

4. He also couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised at just how much there was she wanted to try. However shy she was socially, she had a curiosity that was almost insatiable. Reflecting on what she'd been like as a student, it should have been obvious.

5. Ash swore to hunt down whoever changed her ring-tone to 'Hot For Teacher' and make them pay.
