Victor von Doom came to attention as the portal opened in his throne room. Those Doombots which possessed magic detectors readied their offensive systems.

"Stand down." He issues a command as he recognizes the arriving figure. The Enchantress. Her arrival was not expected, but it was not outside the realm of his preparations.

"Victor, darling, you look well. Have you been getting more sun?" Amora states breezily, although her form flickers faintly.

"Dispense with the illusions, Enchantress. Reveal yourself."

Her image nods, and then fades away, revealing her indeed to be in the same location, but holding a sleeping infant wrapped in swaddling cloth. "We should have words."

His eyes shift behind the mask, and he disables the recording devices in the room, standing, his very posture demanding an explanation.

"Our tryst was not unsatisfying, Victor... this is the result." She strokes her fingers over the infant's cheek, before her gaze stiffens again and returns to Doom. "You will care for him."

Doom slowly advances across the room to her, examining the infant, whose eyes open, as it coos softly. He is silent for a long few moments, before gently laying a gauntlet against the child's head delicately. "He has my mother's eyes." After receiving a nod from her, he takes the child. "To what end do you surrender him to me?"

"Those are my reasons, Doom. Raise him well. I will be watching." She leans down and kisses the baby's forehead softly. "Be well, and grow powerful, my sweet Vincent." She rises, gives Doom one final stare, then leaves.

For a few long minutes, the room is silent, punctuated only by a few gurgling sounds by the baby before it falls asleep.

"Kristoff," Doom intoned over the castle's communication systems. "Come here."

Kristoff hurried there. "Yes, Sire?"

Doom beckons Kristoff to approach him, showing him the child, and letting his thoughts mature before speaking.

"You should meet your brother. Vincent von Doom, of Latveria and Asgard."

Kristoff looks at the baby, eyes widening. "Will his mother be staying here, Sir?"

"She will not." Doom says, perhaps a bit more forcefully than necessary, and the baby stirs.

"Kristoff, you are well aware that Doom has myriad responsibilities. This child will become one of yours as well, along with the appointment of a proper nanny.

Do you accept this responsibility?"

His ward/son has always served him faithfully, but this would be a trying burden for any child, even one so learned as Kristoff.

Less than a year ago, Kristoff had taken a shot for Doom from which it had taken him months to recover. A baby is no more frightening a challenge.

...Not much less, either, though.

Kristoff nodded. "Of course, Sir," he said seriously. "May I recommend consulting Frau Mueller about qualified caretakers? Or I could ask her myself." There was precious little Kristoff still had to ask his old tutor, after what had been done to his mind, but she had been competent in childcare issues.

"That will be acceptable." Doom nods. He is about to dismiss Kristoff, when he pauses again.

"Would you like to hold your brother?"

"I would appreciate that, Sir." Kristoff gingerly offers his asrms, knowing in theory how infants are held, but having had much cause to do so before.

Not Six Yet

Vincent slams the door to his room shut, an act that would have ripped it free of its hinges had it not been for the reinforcements in place.

How could Father do such a thing? How could he send Kristoff away? Vincent rubbed his eyes furiously. What could he do? He wasn't strong enough to get away on his own, but he couldn't just leave Kristoff out there all alone!

"Oh little one... why do you cry?" A voice intones softly.

Vincent looked up to find a man in yellow and green sitting in one of his room's chairs. He blinked at him, sniffing sharply.

"I am Vincent von Doom. I do not cry. I am outraged." He clarifies.

"Oh, my apologies then." The man bows with a flourish. "What brings you such displeasure?"

Vincent gives the green man a brief overview of the Incident, and how Kristoff could not have just stood by. He had had to act!

"How very upsetting. Why do you not go with your brother, then? Surely you don't wish to remain here."

Vincent frowns. "Father is a very skilled mage.... I could not escape here without him catching me. I have tried, for fun."

"Oh, is that all? Well, what do you say I do you a favor, and one day, you can do me one?" He grins, extending a hand.

And the child, not knowing whom he speaks with, nor what he is doing, looks back. "You'll help me go find Kristoff?"

"I will give you the means to find him yourself."

Vincent shakes the man's hand, and green light suffuses his room. "Yeeeeesss..... now, off with you."

Loki blows a puff of air, and Vincent, in a ghostly form, flies through the walls of the castle, out into the open countryside. Once Vincent realizes what is happening, and becomes corporeal again, he flies under his own power, following the tug in his mind that he knows to be Kristoff.

~~~
A considerable number of alarms go off when an indvidual geo-tracked as originating from Latveria arrives on the roof of the Baxter Building.
This is where Kristoff is? How... odd.
"Kristoff!" Vincent alights down on the roof, and runs over to his brother, throwing his arms around his waist, babbling in Romany.
"I'm so sorry Father was an idiot, he should never have sent you away. I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner, or stop him."
Vincent just clutches his brother in return as tightly as it is safe to.
"I won't leave you alone, I promise. I just don't know what I'm supposed to--" He begins, and then he notices they are not alone on the roof.
"Oh..." The five year old shifts slightly, instinct overruling pride as he puts Kristoff between himself and... them.
"I believe you, phral. And they will not hurt you. I am under truce with them. I will not betray Latveria, and they will not ask it. They are trustworthy otherwise."
"Mrs. Richards, Dr. Richards," always the precedence for Kristoff. "This is my brother Vincent."
Vincent tries to bow, but in the process of side-stepping out from behind Kristoff, partially trips over his own two feet, and it inadvertently comes out more like a curtsy.
"I am Vincent von Doom. Thank you very much for taking care of my brother." He looks up at Kristoff. "You are staying with them?"
The unspoken question of 'what about me?' is fairly clear on the child's face.
"My god... it's like they're multiplying alrea-- ah!" A comment from the Human Torch is silenced as something invisible smacks the back of his head.
"Good afternoon, Vincent." Reed steps forward, trying not to wince as the child's spine stiffens. "I'll have Roberta see to it that another room is made ready, next to Kristoff's."
Vincent blinks, mouth falling open for a moment, before he straightens up. "Yes. Of course. That will be acceptable."
There is a crack in the air, as a number of sensors blare alarms at once, and magical protections put in place by a number of the Four's allies are savagely ripped open.
Dr Doom stands before them.
"That... my son, will be quite enough." He looks down at Vincent, having stepped from the ether only a few yards from him. "You will return with me to Latveria at once."
Ben and Johnny move to act immediately, but Susan holds them back, looking to Reed, who gives her a nod.
This is Vincent and Kristoff's place to speak, more than any of theirs; but they stand at the ready.
