waking up is the hardest part.

So, how do the journals work?
Journals are a new addition to the list of school supplies for this year. All students must have one. The only thing the students would know about them is that though they are not required to write in them, they are supposed to "foster inter- and intra-House unity" and that these journals could be very beneficial as study aids. What they don't know is that Death Eaters have access to the journals, more specifically Amycus and Alecto Carrow. Students who speak out against the current regime will find themselves spending a few extra nights in the dungeons. Perhaps even those students who appear to be the most vocal will run the risk of having something happen to their families? This means that there are currently no private entries or locks on any of the journals, and that everyone who has a journal can read everything that everyone else has written.

What's going on with the school?
Well, for the time being, Headmisstress McGonagall is still in place. However, she is merely a puppet for the Carrows, who are biding their time until they can take full control of the school. For now, they have been installed at the school in order to help with the new curriculum, which includes a fully revamped, completely mandatory Muggle Studies class, and a "new-and-improved" Defence Against the Dark Arts class. There are also stricter curfews and stricter punishments for breaking even the most insignificant of school rules. Filch's Banned List has almost quadrupled in size, and as the year progresses, students will find it more and more difficult to enjoy themselves. The Carrows have also taken it upon themselves to do random mail searches, which could have embarrassing results.

All Prefects have been replaced with Pureblood students whenever possible. All clubs/extracurricular activities (except Quidditch) have been banned until further notice. Students in Slytherin will experience preferential treatment in the extreme, with Pureblood students in other Houses being second-highest on the totem pole.

What is the Trio doing?
The Trio is up to exactly what they were up to in the book, only this time they've also got journals. Their journals come from the Order network, however, meaning that they have the ability to lock entries to other members of the Order.

And the Order?
Those Order members who aren't still working for the Ministry are in hiding. They keep in contact through a network of journals that is connected to the students' network, though the Order members can lock entries to other Order members only.

How are the Death Eaters doin'?
They are living large. Most of them have been elevated to high-ranking Ministry positions. They have full access to the journal network as well, and they also have the ability to lock entries to other Death Eaters.

Tell us about The Outside World:
Currently, the outside Wizarding World is in a state of seemingly organized chaos. More people are being arrested each day and more people go into hiding each day - there are constant reports in the Prophet of Muggleborns being caught and tried, and those who have aided Muggleborns being caught and tried. Students may indeed read the names of their family members in the Prophet one day. Eventually, someone will get word about Lee Jordan's radio broadcast and information will filter through the student body that way. For now, the Hogwarts administration wants to paint a very rosy picture of the outside world in which Purebloods reign free.

More about the Muggleborns, please!
Muggleborns are obviously out of school, but they can be played. However, they won't have (in-game) journals at the very start. Do not fret, they will get their hands on them soon enough; whether it's through The Order or by other means will be decided soon. Also, be prepared, for with Muggleborns comes great responsibility plot. You will be contacted by the mods a lot.

Who made this place all pretty?
Why, [info]snezana did.
