Your mom has reason to worry. A girl in my karate class has missed about a month of school because of a kidney infection. It's painful, I think she mentioned not being able to eat much--that's the little I heard from her before she locked herself in the house.
Just think of it this way: Missing a day of school from visiting the doctor is a lot better than missing a month of school from not visiting the doctor.
