Pietro and Wanda are the twin children of Magneto and Magda, a Gypsy woman he fell in love with as a child and cemented that relationship while they were both in Auschwitz. After the death of Anya, their eight year old daughter and Magneto's outburst, Magda fled to Mt. Windagore in Transia. A small country near Romania.

While she gave birth to the twins there, Cthon sensed power in Wanda and reached out to claim it for his own. He was not totally successful, though he did alter the nature of Wanda's powers and the universe around Mt. Windagore. The mountain became an area where time passes slower than normal, so slow that years would pass for minutes. Local people began to vanish and then reappear years later, no older than they were when they left.

Eventually, a Gypsy couple came to the mountain and adopted the infant twins. They left a few years later to the outside world and the twins are now in their late teens, the time distortion accounting for the difference in ages.

Mt Windagore is not the only place where time is warped, another more famous spot is the Bermuda Triangle. Different areas either have time that passes faster or slower than the world around them. The twins are unaware of the magical interference with their birth and age.
