[Cecilia]

I have an offer to extend to you...but feel free to decline.

My family has a box at the Opera. I've gone every year since I was young, but this year I thought it was only proper to see if you'd like to accompany me.

As previously mentioned, you're not obligated to join me, but if you do...I'd enjoy your company.

[Jonas, Gabriel, Rafe]

I'm in a bit of a predicament.

Here's the situation:

I'm supposed to be courting Cecilia Hooke, an arrangement made by our parents. That's not the problem, though. The problem is that I don't know a damn thing about her. This whole situation just feels...awkward; unnatural. I'm sure at least one of you can understand where I'm coming from with this.

It's not that I don't like her, but I don't know what steps I should be taking. I invited her to join me at the Opera, but even if she accepts I won't know where to go from there. So...any suggestions on how I can not make myself look like a complete fool?

I swear, if one of you even suggests giving me advice that sounds similar to 'just relax and be yourself', I'm going to shank you. This isn't exactly the sort of dating situation I'm used to.

How the fuck do people do this?

Well her boyfriend did just die and was revealed to be a death eater---I don't think you should want it to be anything but awkward yet. If either of you were completely fine with it, that would be the strange bit.

I suppose, just treat her like a friend for now. In a delicate situation like this, she needs to trust you before anything.

Well, that's part of the problem. She does seem to be fine with this...or, she's putting on quite an act to make people believe she is. I understand her reasons for doing so, because of everything that has happened, but it's making things...complicated.

Hm. I don't know how much this could help your situation, but with Rachel...I told her it was her choice, about everything. I let her know that I would respect her if she chose not to go through with the engagement and marriage, and that I would support her either way...

I don't know, I think Cecilia needs to know that you're not some mindless man, doing what his parents his parents told him to do. Even though I can't really-

I would tell her that, if I knew how to actually bring all of that up in conversation without startling the girl. I need to wait for the opportunity to actually bring up the idea of us having a future together before I spring all of that on her...but we both know why we're spending time together. I think that's weighing on both of our minds, and it makes it difficult for us to act like friends.

I haven't been pressuring her into anything, because she does have a choice, but I'm at least trying to give this a shot.

You feel as if there is a possibility I would decline such an offer? I adore the opera.

Well, you never know. Some people just don't appreciate it as much as others.

I think opera is one of those things you either love, or hate. There's rarely a middle ground.

Ah well, it is good to know that we share a common love for it then. That is one similarity, yes?

I don't believe Evan cared for the opera. At least, we never wen--
