1. They met investigating the murder of Marissa's mother. Marcus had a lot of sympathy for her as his own mother had been killed.
2. They met again tracking down the killer. At that point decided to work together. There may have been some light flirting.
3. When they finally found the killer he didn't walk away from the confrontation. Neither of them is sure which one of the actually took him out.
4. Marcus uses this to convince Marissa that criminals need harsher punishments causing her to leave Bruce.
5. The pair are often seen working together cleaning up the street of Gotham one dead crook at a time.
