Full Name:Diandra Hannah West
Nicknames: Dee
Age: 23
Status: Gifted
Ability: Diandra has the ability to see the future. Her accuracy varies within the time frame that she is given. The less time there is to an event, the more accurate she can see the outcome. She cannot see anything if the decision for the event to happen has not occurred yet. She is well aware that the future changes, and her visions will sometimes change to reflect those changes. She sometimes has visions concerning specific people. In order for that to happen, Diandra needs to have come into contact with that specific person, whether it be skin-to-skin contact, or just being around them. Her visions will come without warning after she sees something, and they do take a mental toll on her.
Physically when she receives a vision, she is physically unresponsive. Visions can take several seconds or a few minutes. In very rare cases, she has received visions in her sleep. Either way, she seems very out of it when she is consciously receiving visions, and very vulnerable when doing so. Her visions can be forced under certain circumstances (i.e. drugs, hypnosis, forced contact, etc.) but for the most part, Diandra just needs to keep an open mind.
Special Talents: Diandra is quite the gardener, and is also a good cook.
Hometown: Lacrosse, Wisconsin
Bloodtype: B
Family Status: Orphaned
Relatives: Robert West (father, deceased), Linda West (mother, deceased), Justin West (brother, deceased)
Financial Situation: Poor
Education: Home schooled, self-taught, but quick to pick up things
Physical Health: Diandra, despite looking rather pale and weak has a surprising store of energy that she can use toward her strength. Working on a farm for most of her life, she is rather hardy. However, her tendency to get sick at times can be seen as a handicap, and to a certain extent, she does need some looking after. Otherwise, however, Diandra is perfectly capable of doing things that other people can do, and is rather proud that she is stronger than some men out there. She isn't very athletic, but can hold her own in a fight (which isn't very often) and can outrun quite a few people.
Personality: Diandra is very much a country bumpkin, of sorts. She hasn't had as many encounters with technology beyond a tractor and her family's truck, but is otherwise thankful for some of the older things. She is shy, but once you get her talking, she can actually prove to be quite the friendly person. Dee has a strong set of morals also, and that is something that she takes rather seriously. She approves of honesty in nearly all situations, and believes that if you give people a second chance, they can change for the better. She doesn't like the use of force, although depending upon the situation, she will reluctantly agree to it. Dee also believes that looking beyond what makes people different is ultimately what makes people friends, not what they are. She has a fairly accurate sense of intuition too, a small offshoot of her abiltiy.
History: Diandra was the second daughter born to Robert and Linda West. Her father had been fighting in the war and died on foreign soil, leaving her older brother Justin to support the family. Diandra worked in the fields as soon as she was old enough, caring for animals and for the crops in order to keep their income, as small as it was coming. She was largely home schooled by her mother, who had given up her job as the schoolteacher in the nearby town to support the family. Diandra was by no means a bright child, just one with a strong imagination. Her brother and mother often said that it wouldn't get her anywhere. Nonetheless, Diandra persevered in her work on the farm.
The day she first realized she had an ability due to the radiation poisoning was when she woke up in the middle of the night, knowing that her brother was going to leave the farm and her mother behind. In that same dream, she knew that he was going to die before he ever got to where he was going. Unfortunately, she was too late to stop him from leaving with the family truck, their only way of getting into town to barter for crops. From her bedroom window, she saw the blaze as the truck exploded, killing her brother inside. All of the dreams she had before, of people in far off places dying, of massive blazes and of chaos were slowly but surely coming true of their own accord.
Linda West soon died afterwards from a broken heart at losing the two men in her life, leaving Diandra alone and afraid. Her visions were frightening, and she didn't know what to do. Using her dreams to guide her, she left the farm on foot, taking what little she had before all of this ever happened and departed. Going into the nearest town and keeping her mind open, she managed to avoid bandits and other unruly folk that would have taken advantage of her. Finding Dr. Keynes after that was the easy part, as she had seen him coming and decided that going with someone was a better bet than staying alone. So she went with him, getting the help that she needed, and gaining confidence along the way. There were, of course, some things that would never truly go away, such as her visions and the intensity of them, but Diandra has learned to cope with them now, and has learned to focus her visions to be a bit more helpful for other people.
