Didgey ([info]didgey) wrote in [info]shukumei,
Christmas in the Second District was actually pretty pleasant and focused on spending time close to your family and loved ones. And buying a special gift for your children... well, that part always made Mei a little bitter. She wanted kids. And badly. But her husband picker was beyond broken, it was just obliterated. She'd had many relationships but her type in men was always questionable, and more often than not it ended in some sort of trouble. There's just something about a dangerous man. So sexy!

This was the time of year she always really felt her biological clock ticking away. She wanted her own little rugrats to tote around, so the group of children laughing and eating caught her attention. Looking at their happy faces she sighed wistfully... then grimaced. Did all of those children come from one woman? Ouch. Maybe just one or two children would be plenty. Ten is way too far.

Watching the kids she noticed one of the smaller girls getting picked on by the older boys. It's pretty common for boys to roughhouse like that, but when she saw them nabbing food off the girl's plate she couldn't stand idly by anymore. Girls need to stand up for themselves, right? And in her head, it was a great idea for a test of motherhood. Having a son and a daughter would be ideal, so she thought it would be best to test her skills at breaking up tiffs. "Hey, you!" She pointed at the older boys. "I know you're having fun and all, but can't you see how rude you're being? You have your own meals, leave hers alone." She felt that was excellent, triumphant... until the girl just started sobbing.

"Oh... crap. Little girl, hey, I'm--... what the heck? I just did you a favor." This was panic mode now, what if her parents came over and were furious? How do you explain off making a kid cry? "Shh, shh. Hey, do you want some lipstick? I have lipstick. Want to wear it?" Woman to woman, lipstick should always work. Mei could only hope those parents didn't come over here now while she was putting red lipstick on a crying little girl.
