And all across the Internet, the people demand: “Where’s my hoverboard?” Every so often, someone claims to have created a “real” hoverboard—except there’s always some caveat, like it only works in a bespoke skate park. And don’t even try to call it a hoverboard if it has wheels. The truth, as Will Oremus argued in Slate in November 2012, is that you probably are never going to get a real hoverboard.
