The call had come in at roughly three in the morning that an unusual murder had taken place in an alley way nearby a local quick market. Lynch had gotten a woken up by a call telling her that she needed to go there and lead the investigation not much later.
Lynch showed up at the scene of the crime tired and in desperate need of some coffee which she couldn’t have till she talked to the guy who had been in charge and took over for him.
“Hey Lynch over here,” one of the officers on the scene said but she couldn’t place who it was till she got closer.
“Hey Jenkins, so what happened here,” Karen said to the officer who she was taking over for as she looked at the gruesome scene. Jenkins was a good cop in the SI with her though he had gotten there for arresting the son a prominent businessman while he didn’t understand half the crazy stuff that happen in the SI he did his best to keep up and he had Lynch’s respect for it.
“Vic’s name is Barry Archer, he had his wallet on him with ids, credit cards, and cash, so there was no way this was a robbery gone but though with the way the body looks,” he said.
“Yeah that’s for sure,” she said. One quick look at the body easily revealed a large gaping hole above where the vic’s heart would be located.
“The we’ve also has come up with a preliminary theory as to how the vic died, which we think was someone subdued him, cut his chest open with a knife, and then stuffed firecrackers into his heart and set them off, and then left.”
Lynch could already spot all the holes in that theory, first there were no signs of a struggle and no drag marks on the ground, second there were no powder burns on the body, and third when Lynch got closer she see no knife marks on the victim.
“Well that theory sucks,” Lynch said honestly.
“Well it’s more believable than his heart just exploding out of his chest and we need something for our official reports,” he explained.
While Lynch was a good detective she knew that without help this case would quickly become a cold case and never be solved. Lynch decided to be nice and call up Walker in an hour. For some reason whenever the SI had cases like this they stood a ninety percent higher chance of being solved if he was hired to consult for the case, but now she needed to get some coffee or else she might shoot someone.
