she was adopted by her moms who went through something of a tough time so she's always been fiercely protective of that, and like well so what if they're both women? it doesn't matter. one of their moms is a muggle but the other is a witch so they could definitely have known each other! and maybe his dads even helped them decide to adopt because walt would have been at least a few months old because they adopted her and her siblings when they were almost a year old, so seeing them with walt would have made them think yes we want to do this too
