PERSONALITY; Matt has buried his anxieties under an exterior of smiles and rainbows. He has forced himself to always look on the bright side of life because he'd drown in his manias if he didn't. It's made him seem naive to his friends and somewhat easy to manipulate. While admittedly a bit gullible, he's not a pushover when it comes to things he believes in.

Drystan and Odette making him lay traps in the Gryffindor locker rooms is an example of something he believes in.

When he loses his composure, it's not a good sight. Professor Sprout used to provide him with sleeping potions when he went through rough patches. He kept the true story about the loss of his family a secret from his friends because he was terrified of dealing with it. Living alone was a trying time at first. He's grown and managed, however, and now that his dark past has been made public Matt feels like a great weight has been lifted off his shoulders.

HISTORY.

1956— Born!

1966— April; Family attacked by death eaters; only Matt and his brother survive. Both sent to live in at St. Joseph's Home for Boys from then on and through Hogwarts. Brother is a muggle.

1967— June; Albus Dumbledore visits Matt on his 11th birthday at St. Joseph's and tells him he is a wizard and can go to Hogwarts. Also informs him that his little brother Caleb is a muggle and cannot.

1967— September; Begins Hogwarts! Sends letters home to his brother that are never responded to.

1971— April; Goes home (St. Joseph) on Easter Break and discovers that Caleb has been adopted. It is a closed adoption and since Matthew is underage he is not given details about his brother's whereabouts. He misses the train back to Hogwarts because of his sadness, and Professor Sprout picks him up.

1973— June; In the summer before his last year at Hogwarts, Matt is forced to enter the muggle workforce as he has finally grown too old to live at the children's home. He works the summer as a waiter at The Leaky Cauldron; Albus Dumbledore had arranged room and board until school started again.

1974— Graduates from Hogwarts!

1976— Picked up by the Wigtown Wanderers as reserve seeker; bounces around teams for the next few seasons, playing reserve and coming into games at the end of the season where the points didn't really matter.

1982— After finding himself back on the Wanderers with the promise of starting once the current seeker retires, the seeker decides to extend contract, leaving Matt on the bench for another season. This is the last year of Matt's contract, and while it was predicted that he would stay loyal to the team, Matt made a rash decision to sign with the dismal Cannons, where he would be guaranteed to start.

1982— May; begins the preseason as starting seeker for the Cannons, and is coming up with a foil against the rest of the teams in the league.

1983— January; After a month of being a correspondent at the European Cup in Istanbul, Matt is invited to fly for the Puddlemere United as they search for a seeker to replace the great Finn McLaggen. Makes the team!
