Gryffindor Comes Out Roaring!
Today's match shows that quidditch is a sport you can never give up on! Unless you are the Chudley Cannons, of course, but hey, let's talk real quidditch.

In a dauntingly long, nearly four hour match (these teams this year seem to be wanting to break school records--longest match recorded, a mind-boggling nine hours and twenty-seven minutes), Hufflepuff came out on the immediate attack. Gryffindor, known for its firework-like enthusiasm, seemed to be working more strategically than past matches have shown. Captain and Keeper Davy Gudgeon, while allowing nineteen goals (but who wouldn't, after that long) kept his team quite aware of the scoring and what they needed to do to get the win.

Hufflepuff's ferocity could not seal the deal, however, and young Selena Fortescue snatched the snitch right under the Gryffindor goals. As if this match weren't incredulous enough, a bludger meant for Fortescue slammed into Gryffindor beater Ralph Merridew right after she caught the snitch, and Merridew, who after the long match seemed to have his patience snapped and a brawl broke out between he and Hufflepuff beater Ludo Bagman. The two were treated on the field for injuries (Merridew having fallen off his broom mid-punch, very acrobatic), and have left this reporter completely satisfied with the quidditch Hogwarts is producing this year.

On a lighter note of this colorful match (and I do mean colorful, apparently the Hufflepuff yellow was exceptionally bright today), the commentary was provided by Eliza Alderton of Gryffindor and Lucille Martin of Hufflepuff. While giving an incredibly accurate play-by-play report, the two young witches were also able to compliment Hufflepuff Captain and chaser Brianna O'Hara on how well her braid managed to stay in place.

Push come to shove, Ravenclaw better not think they're on holiday; Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are in it to win it.
