Sebastian frowned, hands firmly on his hips as he examined the courtyard. He stood on top of one of the stone benches, not completely sure that it wouldn't transfigure itself into a gargoyle and fly away. Were there real life gargoyles here in this magical world known as Hogwarts? He wasn't quite sure yet, but he was determined to find out.

"You've got a stick in your hair," his friend Graeme said from below. Sebastian looked down and watched the other boy nibble on a chocolate frog. Graeme gestured toward his head, and Sebastian scowled and pulled the stick out of one of his wild curls. It must've gotten caught when he was chasing his cat, Busby, through the bushes earlier that morning. That animal did not like Gryffindor Tower in the slightest, and Sebastian had to let it roam free for most of the day or face the wrath of an angry kitty cat. His mum had given him money to buy the pet in Diagon Alley and had said that Busby would keep him company, but he and the cat were like oil and water.

"I can't find that blasted cat," Sebastian said, jumping down to the ground. He motioned to his lips as he looked at Graeme, and the other boy hurriedly cleaned the chocolate off of his face with his cloak's sleeve.

"He doesn't like either of us," Graeme said, checking his reflection in a bird fountain. "Maybe we're too muggle for him."

There was a loud laugh and the two Gryffindors turned toward it, Sebastian letting out a long groan at the sight of the culprit.

"Don't you have anything better to do than eavesdrop, Dearborn?" Sebastian said, crossing his arms as the other boy continued to laugh. There were three other Slytherins flanking Caradoc Dearborn, each looking more miserable than the next. Caradoc seemed to be the only one in a decent mood, and Sebastian knew it was because he was making fun of himself and Graeme.

"You two are too muggle for this school," Caradoc said, pointing a stiff finger at them to draw more attention to the Gryffindor duo. "Even your own bloody pets know it!"

Sebastian was about to shout that Caradoc was too ugly for this school, but held his tongue as a couple of girls approached the Slytherin pack. They were wearing
