I do feel obliged to point out, however, that journal access has always been free at libraries, where bound volumes of journals were archived until the digital age took over. Academic publishing is slowly changing. If you really enjoy the content of Science magazine, you can buy a personal subscription that makes the cost per article very reasonable.
