Who: Odette MacFarlan & Adrian Mattias
What: REUNITED LOL
Where: Manchester!
When: today! aka before the blackout

The season was so close she could almost smell it. And thank fucking Merlin for that, because Odette wasn’t sure how many more nasty surprises she could handle before then. The realization that she hadn’t played since January had very much set in, and no one, no one was going to deter her from this new drive for victory. Not Finn fucking McLaggen, Adrian ‘I’m so innocent’ Mattias, or especially Drystan, king of all deserters, Fawcett. Nope, it just wasn’t happening.

But now was not the time to stay negative. She had to stay positive, think only positive thoughts going into the beginning of the season. Things were going to work out. They would fix this lack of captain issue. They would play well this year. No more unnecessary side drama--- even if it meant having to swallow dealing with Seth (though in his defense, he was getting better) like earlier in the week at the kid’s camp.

Odette continued to think positive thoughts as she walked to the front of the house to answer the door. She had just layed Anna down for her nap, Terry was playing in the kitchen and Noah had work during the day, so she did feel a pinch of curiosity to see who it was. Drystan, if he knew what was good for him.

But oh no, it was someone else on her hate list. Upon opening the front door, Odette immediately seized up, her arms crossing over her chest in a cold manner. What was he doing here? Better yet, how had he known where to find her? It wasn’t like she was in Montrose anymore, a more obvious place to be located. They were in fucking Manchester for crying out loud.

“Hello,” Adrian spoke slowly to his half-sister, sensing her hostile nature. It had taken him a good two weeks to finally obtain Odette’s address from Seth. For someone who usually was very open about things, Seth had surprisingly been closed lip about his teammate. Who would have thought?

“What do you want?” Odette spoke harshly, suddenly wishing she didn’t have her arms clamped so tightly across her chest; it disabled her from slamming the door in his face. “Aren’t you pleased enough that you figured a way back here?” Positive, smositive; this hatred had years of backing. It was immune to her new mantra.

Adrian began to nod his head from side to side. No, no, he wasn’t here for that. Those days of taunting and torture were in the past. If she wanted him to be perfectly honest, he wanted to see his father and be accepted by Odette’s family. Their family. But he seriously doubted she would be ready to hear that, now. “Can I come in?” he asked in a light tone.

“No,” Odette responded stubbornly.

He would have been seriously shocked if she had given in that easily. So Adrian paused, thinking for a moment. He tried again. “Can I come in, please?”

Her eyes turned into two tight slits at this point. Her mouth opened wide, but before she could speak he quickly cut in.

“It’ll only be a few minutes,” he looked at her hopefully, lending a small smile to help sway her. He really wasn’t all that bad. Granted, Odette had only seen the immature side of him in school, but people could change, couldn’t they? Adrian sighed, his right hand going to scratch the back of his head as he waited for her to respond.

“I just want to apologize,” Adrian spoke, his hands going out in a placid manner. And that was the truth. Sort of. He really did feel bad about about their fifth year. And their sixth. Alright, the last three years was just a really poor time for the both of them, and.... he didn’t exactly try to stop that, he would admit. Actually, he had thrived on making her angry (she really made it too fun and easy) because--- well, for a lot of reasons that he still wasn’t too proud of to admit.

“Why now?” she spoke so suddenly her voice came out less fiercely. Adrian took that as a good sign. His posture reaffirmed itself as he took a big breath; this speech had long been coming.

“Because I’m here now, and we have to deal with each other. Meaning eventually someone is going to find out that our fathers are the same person. And I don’t want that. I want--- I want to be accepted. And it won’t happen without you.” There, he said it. The only bloody reason why he came back to England was so that he could be finally accepted by his bloody. And Odette was the one person that was blocking him from doing it. If she didn’t publicly accept him like he knew she wouldn’t, then the entire thing would be shot.

“And why would I want to acknowledge that my own father cheated on my mother? To create you? When he was married to her? She was pregnant with me a month later!” Odette spoke in a hostile tone as her fingers curled into claws. How dare he come to her like this, now, demanding everything from her? In school, he had basked in knowledge that his real father was famous, making her no longer the only one with MacFarlan blood. What was with the sudden sentimental value?

“Because I can help you,” he started quickly, earning an intense glare. “The Magpies have a bad reputation now. I can help you fix that. Just look at me. Everyone loves me. I can make them love you.” This was, at the very least, true. Seth had told him about how their team’s reputation had taken a turn for the worst in the past year, but Adrian saw it as nothing but an opportunity. Everyone in Portugal had loved him. They practically worshiped the ground he walked on. But in no way was he has holy and awesome as they believed; it was all about making them think you were that way.

Odette stood silently for a few moments, her eyes so tight Adrian wasn’t even sure if they were open. He gave another hopeful smile, but as soon as he did, she unlocked her arms to reach for the door. Oh. Had he gone too far? The door slamming loudly centimeters away from his face indicated that he had.

Well. It was a start.
