UNAPPLICABLE CHARACTERS • As far as Hogwarts students go, characters fourth year and below will not be accepted due to a lack of plot possibilities. Children characters are accepted (i.e. Nymphadora Tonks), but only on a special case basis and it is not advised that you apply for one; they are usually brought into the game only as NPCs. Please check the Graduation List for available graduation years.

QUESTIONS • If you are confused as far as anything on this list goes, are interested in learning a character's backstory, or just have any comments in general, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the mods. You may do so through an email to valesco.mods@gmail.com, or you may comment to this post leaving your AIM screenname and one of us will get in touch with you as soon as possible. In the case that an unanswered question has eaten up time on your hold, just mention it to the mod and you'll be granted extra time automatically if needed.

MISSING CHARACTERS • As far as the parentless children go, not all are listed here. If you find a name that isn't listed that you wish to apply for the parent of, please just inquire!

THE WISH LIST • This is a post where current players are allowed to make character suggestions--want ads, of a sort--in the case that they need a character to fulfill a plot, want a character that has backstory with their own, or when they just want to see a character taken up. If you're unsure as to what you're going to be able to offer to this RPG plot-wise, or if you just have no idea who to app, this is a fantastic place to start. HOLDS • All holds will last for 72 hours from the time you post your request--NOT from the time a mod takes to answer your request. If you need an extension, don't be afraid to ask, but you will not be granted more than two additional periods of three days. This way, no one person keeps a character they never actually get around to apping reserved for too long. Holds on PBs are accepted. Multiple holds on the same character are not accepted.

[ψ] This symbol indicates that the character has backstory. Sometimes this is just as simple as being the sibling of a character that has a specific history or personality in mind for this character, and sometimes it can be as detailed as the character having previously been played and established in the game. If there is no link to the wish list next to a character with backstory, you must ask the mods for the backstory. In the case that they cannot answer your question, you will be directed to the player that can.

[ρ] This symbol indicates that a character is a prefect. This is negotiable, but we'd prefer you have a good reason for changing their status, not just 'I don't want them to be' as many of them were created to be our prefects. You may, however, create a character to displace one of the prefects on the list. The Prefect List can be found here.

[Ω] This symbol indicates that a character holds a place on their house Quidditch team. This is the same deal as with prefects--don't just change this for the hell of it, but you may make an original character to take an available character's spot on the team. The Quidditch List can be found here.

[bolded] A name in boldface indicates that a character is on hold. To check up on the hold you are waiting to end, you can check the comments below. If the hold has expired and the character is yet unbolded, feel free to ask for a hold.

[•] This symbol will always be linked, and it indicates that a character has a posting on the Wish List. If you want a character with this symbol next to their name, you must click the link and read up on that character first. Specifics provided for you on the Wish List posting are non-negotiable unless otherwise noted, as these characters are there for the reason of plot. If it is noted that one of these characters also has backstory, normally it is amply provided in the Wish List posting, but if the player posting asks you to contact them, you will be expected to do so.

[♂ & ♀] These symbols are specific to the list for parentless characters and indicate that the only character available is the male or female half of the set of parents. If there is no link to the Wish List for this character, it would be advisable to contact the mods in order to point you in the direction of the other half of your pairing so that you may talk to them. This is normally nothing to worry about, as most don't have specifics if they have not listed them on the Wish List, but it's always good to check!
