I think some people want there to be repercussions for the most recent set of 'pranks' between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. I realize that I may be a little bit biased when it comes to this little war, since I'm in one of the houses involved, so I'd appreciate your opinion on what should be done.

Honestly, there's not much we can suggest. There's no quidditch to take away - though we can pull the quidditch cup from Ravenclaw, but clearly that would be unfair as Gryffindor has no cup to take away.

If we give the seventh year girls in both houses detention for the rest of the year, that'll hurt their N.E.W.T. studying chances.

We could take all the points from both houses, but that seems unecessarily harsh to the other years.

We could make them apologize to each other and to their houses at dinner?

Well, that'd also be kind of unfair because that'd affect the whole house and not just the seventh year girls. Besides, Anneliese would probably kill something.

Yeah, this is definitely a tricky situation. I know for a fact that not every single seventh year girl from both houses were involved, but I don't know how to go around that without looking like I'm playing favorites, since certain people not involved just happen to be very close to me.

If I know the Ravenclaw girls at all, they'll feel that they have nothing to apologize for, but the Gryffindor girls might just apologize to make the Ravenclaws remove the charms.

As much as I hate to say this, removing points might just be the best option we have here. Even if it does seem unfair to people who aren't seventh years, and as much as I hate knowing that this'll most likely kill any chance my own house had at winning the House Cup this year, it'll definitely be a lesson learned. Hopefully, if the younger students are smart, they'll realize that it's just not worth it to start interhouse wars.

Just because your girlfriend said she wasn't involved, doesn't mean you can prove that she wasn't actually. As far as we have to know, everyone was involved. I'm not saying she was or wasn't, we just can't let that be involved. She's just another student right now.

Then we take the points, make them even, so both houses are last. I think that Flitwick and Dumbledore can take care of the charms, just keeping them away from each other. I also think that everyone needs to know that if there's one more toe out of line, everyone will get expelled, no matter what. Not really, but that's the threat, you know? It's not like they can't take the tests in a make up time at the Ministry.

Wait...have you met Eliza?

Yeah, I know. I didn't expect anyone to be treated any differently, I'm just saying I wish there was a way to know who was innocent and who wasn't so that we could hand out punishments to those who truly deserve it. But, since we can't, we'll have to treat all of them as though they're guilty, even if they may not be.

I think we should just take an equal amount from both houses, since both houses did do a lot to earn what points they do have. Maybe 10 points each girl? That'd take 70 points away from each house.

Merlin, if that's the threat we're putting out there, the Ravenclaw girls should play nice for the rest of the year, as long as they're not provoked. I'm pretty sure we've all been living on coffee and caffiene potions to cram in some more studying for N.E.W.T.s, and if they can't take them when they're supposed to, they might freak out.

doesn't matter if they've been implicated

I don't think 70 points is going to get the point across. Maybe detention the 14th through the 19th, as well. They don't have exams then and really, wouldn't that be the week that more trouble could happen - no classes, no exams + boredom = trouble.

Ravenclaws aren't the only ones studying, this whole mess has been a disruption for all exam year students, really.

Yeah.

I just got back from talking to Flitwick, and after asking his advice on the matter, he said that the only two girls who should be directly punished, are the two who actually admitted to doing everything. Those two are Gillian and Emmeline. So, even though we know there were more people involved on both sides, since one person couldn't do all that, Flitwick says that it'd be best if just those two got punished. We'll a few points away from each of them, maybe about 15, and give them the detentions, since they were the two who admitted to everything.

Sound good?

Weak, but maybe it will impugne the honor of the other girls and make them fess up.

They still need to know no retaliation can happen, or else.
