Alphard,

I have to say, the silent treatment from you is most off-putting. You're not actually purposefully neglecting to stay in touch with me, are you? Or has one fortunate damsel managed to keep your wandering gaze on her and her alone, and so causing you to forget the art of staying in touch?

It's the latter, no? Details, man, details.

Cygnus,

Perhaps a bit a both, if I'm to be entirely honest. Are you through now, with the dreadful snarking and attitude? I was only asking brother, there was no need for such hostility. I'm not that bitch you married your wife in which I have to concede to your insults day in and day out, not any longer. Dare I say you are getting as bad as Wally, does that describe it much more clearly now? I imagine it does, as you know how bad she is with her mood swings.

Anyway, her name is Deirdre, a bright young girl I met on a business trip to Ireland.

Alphard,

Was I being hostile? I suppose I was, a little, but it wasn't an entirely unjustified reaction, wouldn't you agree? You know very well how little I enjoy seeing your nose in my affairs -- and yes, rest assured that I do dearly love your nose, only not in matters I feel should remain private. You're my brother and I couldn't possibly quantify the love I have for you, but I sometimes get the impression you still think I'll trip and fall flat on my face which I did that one time, fair enough, but as though I'm a hapless, clumsy child.

And I really wish you wouldn't dare. Comparing me with Wally? That is low. (Although between you and me, ever since Orion... Well, I shall simply say that she has been mellow these past weeks, and leave it at that.)

Deirdre? Trust you to go for the natives. Blonde, is she?

Cygnus,

There was no meaning behind my enquiries, I was simply curious as to what was going on. I know you're of age, I know you can take care of yourself -- quite well, if I do say so -- but brother that does not mean I worry any less in regards to your affairs. I'd hate to see you hurt and Merlin knows that it is easily accomplished with the people you have been found entertaining recently. However, if you honestly wish for me to mind my own, I shall. Consider this the last I will speak of it.

It needed to be done, to put into perspective how off you've been acting since.. well, alright. It was low, I apologise.

No, one in the family is more than enough thankfully. Red head, curls. Not what you expected me to go for?

Alphard,

Person. Person I have been entertaining (and being entertained by), unless you count poor Dru, who has been so ill lately she can't even keep down her morning tea. But, really, thank you -- and to set your mind at ease, I'll have you know that everything with him is wonderf beyond fine. I promise you don't have to worry about anything and that you will just have to save that I told you so that I know you're dying to say for some other occasion.

Well, I don't know yet. How buxom is she?

Cygnus,

That wife of yours is pregnant -- she ought to be use to the feeling by now, this being her second and all. How many more are you two planning on popping out anyway and this one, is this one a boy at least?

She is well enough off, though I doubt it will last.

Alphard,

I am not sure, you of the unceasing bachelorhood. One, two more? There will be a son eventually. In the meantime, you and Father can help me decide exactly what masculine Black name to recycle while we go over a list of proper eligible women for you. Yes?

You're just saying that because you're sore that she can out-drink you, I'm sure.

Cygnus,

I need no list, I can tell you now I'm not interested in any of them and would prefer to stick with being eligible myself. You can never tell which dashing young lady I might run into next -- telling her I'm engaged to some woman I barely know, and care very little about, is such a turn off. For the both of us.

Anyway, yes. Names. Does it really matter which you choose? There are several decent ones: Sirius, Regulus, Arcturus. Did you have one in mind?

And brother, you ought to know by now that no woman could ever out drink me. Irish or not.

Alphard,

But these dashing young ladies, couldn't they be eligible? Besides, I would like to be an uncle, especially to your spawn. I think you just like your eligibility too much.

Sirius Arcturus, actually.

Careful. Bragging never did anyone much good.

Cygnus,

Well of course they're eligible, but I don't want to have to stick with one or the other! I like keeping my options open, darling brother, and you know you'll be Uncle soon enough with Orion and Walburga going at it the way that they do -- sooner than you imagine, I think.

Sirius Arcturus? I like that, it'd suit your son.
