Its an ugly feedback loop. He hates having to make her stay calm and collected - which stresses him out just trying to not put more pressure on her. Trying to cut off the link doesn't help either - that stresses them both. So in addition to the basics, she occasionally gets sensations of his thoughts wondering into trying to figure out if the kid is going to inherit the curse of the absorption cells or not.
