"You can't be from Atlantis," Cait said. Surely someone as unusual as this woman would have stood out and Cait would have taken notice. "I surely would have noticed you."

"Ah, yes, I can," Nim said, politely, but firmly. "I'm one of the Princesses."

Canadian politeness fought against other thoughts. "And the only people in Atlantis who aren't blue are all my relatives."

Cait blinked. "I'm one of the two princesses of Atlantis and there are no blue people in Atlantis."

Okay, getting weird. "No," she said. "I'm one of the two princesses. Nimue, daughter of Namor."

"Caitria Curry," Cait said. "Daughter of Arthur, otherwise known as King Orin. Ruler of Atlantis and the seas."

Nim blinked her large, dark eyes. "...Okay, those are mutually exclusive things here. Because I know about Lemuria and Atuma's barbarian badlands and even the kingdoms of old Atlantis... but I've never heard of a King Orin."

"Who's Atuma?" Cait asked. "My father's been king of Atlantis for a long time." Well on and off, but that would be too complicated to explain. "Queen Mera is my mother."

"A barbarian who rules a kingdom of outlaws and exiles," Nim explained.

She shook her head. "Namor's been the ruler of Atlantis since World War II. My mother was his wife, Marrina."

"Yeah, I think I'm not in Kansas anymore, but then Kansas is landlocked and who would want to be away from the ocean."

Cait sighed. "Looks like I'm in another dimension and I have no clue how to get home."

"You say that like it happens a lot," Nim remarked.

She shook her head. "Maybe Vashti or one of the other old people in Atlantis know something that can get you home."

"It happens enough," Cait said. "Enough that it isn't such a shock anymore."

Cait smiled. "Any help getting me home would be greatly appreciated."

"...Okay, you must lead a seriously weird life," Nim said.

She started swimming. "C'mon. Not too far."

"Define normal," Cait said and started swimming after the other woman. She easily kept up.

As they got closer to Atlantis, they would begin to notice more and more fish swimming the other way.

"That's... probably not good..."

"Let me see if I can find out what's going on," Cait said as she reached out with her mind to the fish.

"You can do that too?" Nim asked, using her own ability to communicate with sea life. "Weird."

The minds of the fish were full of confusing impressions, but there was a primal well of fear springing forth from them.

Cait nodded. "By Posideon's beard. Something's really not right here."

Cait easily kept up with the other woman.

It did not take them long to reach Atlantis. And when they did...

"Oh my God..."

Atlantis was under siege by a gigantic, tentacled creature of some type. An utter, unnatural abomination.

"By Poseidon's beard," Cait said. "This better not be Cthulhu again. Ty's not here to help."

Nim sucked in a sharp breath.

"Then I guess it's just going to be up to us. No idea where my father is if he's not fighting that thing..."

"Can you mentally contact him?" Cait asked. She didn't know all what the Atlanteans of this dimension could do.

"Doesn't work that way," Nim said. She watched for a minute more, seeing what defenses the military was mounting.

It wouldn't be enough. Not against something like that.

"Into the fray, I guess," she said. Maybe sea-born muscles like theirs would be enough.

She dove at the creature like a missile.

Cait used her powers and turned the water around the creature into a gel-like substance.
