"Then answer me this, phral. Honestly," Kristoff says hoarsely. And he's about to ask. Ask if Vincent could look him in the eyes and claim that if his divine family came back for him at just that moment, the last four years would mean anything more than a memory. He knows it to be true; no matter how much Kristoff loves his brother, or how much occasional affection Vincent feels for him, he is, as everyone else ever was, merely making do with a fallback option.
But he looks at him, and softens. What good would it do, besides spreading the pain? "...Would my going to bed satisfy you? And get you to go to bed? You should not allow your sleep cycle to be disrupted."
