Narcissa stared up at Lucius. "What did you just call me?"
"You heard what I called you, Narcissa," Lucius said. He'd called her into his private room for a meeting. She had to come because she was a Prefect and he was Head Boy, and also it made him look like he was fucking his fiance, which was a lovely added bonus. "I don't want everyone else at Hogwarts calling you it as well. You're my fiance. You can't snog Augustus Rookwood in the library and expect to get away with it. Everyone's distract with the whole Lestrange thing now, but they won't be forever."
"First, I am not a tramp, and second, what about you and Evan?" Narcissa demanded, getting to her feet. She crossed her arms over her chest. "You're not exactly subtle with how you feel about him. You think just because you call me in here people aren't going to know you're gay, Lucius?"
"Don't talk to me like that," Lucius said, frowning at Narcissa. "I'm thinking about our future. Rookwood isn't the right sort of man for you to be spending your time with."
"Do I need to come to you for approval now?" Narcissa laughed, shaking her head. "You're not my father, Lucius. You're barely even my fiance because you're gay. You're gay and you're trying to be with my best friend, so I think you should treat me and my choices with a little more respect than this. I'm allowed to kiss Augustus if I want to kiss him."
"No, you're not." Lucius grabbed Narcissa's wrist, frowning at her. "And I may not be your father, but, as you know, I am your fiance. I will be your husband. And that means I'm going to be the man you answer to from now on. You should get used to it, because once we get married you're not going to be able to run to your daddy anymore. Start acting like an adult, Narcissa. Take responsibility for your decisions. You can't be see kissing another man."
"Because it'll be bad for your reputation? Do you have any idea how little I care?" Narcissa snapped. "You're with Evan. I'm allowed to find someone of my own. Someone I want. Someone who makes me happy. I couldn't give a fuck what you think about my choices because your opinion doesn't matter. You're --"
She was cut off my Lucius slapping her.
Narcissa and Lucius stared at each other for a long moment, equally shocked by the slap. Narcissa reached up and touched her cheek, and Lucius let go of her wrist, allowing her to take a step back, away from him.
Lucius's hand stung from the slap. He knew he'd gone too far. He'd just hard some third years whispering about seeing Narcissa in Rookwood's lap, and he knew they'd been laughing about her cheating on him, and it had... He had worked way too hard to let himself become a laughing stock just because Narcissa was horny and stupid. He took a step towards her again. "Narcissa, I --"
She pushed him back, hard, and stormed to the door, where she stopped. "You..." Narcissa glared at him for a moment, her cheek bright red where she'd been hit. "You're going to regret that, Lucius. I am not a wilting flower who can be pushed around. I am not going to be your broken down doll of a housewife. You don't get to boss me around." She slammed the door hard behind her on the way out.
Narcissa paused in the hallway outside Lucius's room, taking a deep breath and trying to calm down. Honestly, the slap had scared her, even if she'd seen the surprise in Lucius's face after he'd done it. How did she knew he wasn't going to do it again? And this was over something so stupid too. She didn't even know if she liked Rookwood or not. She just owed him snogging for helping her pass Arithmancy, and this... She looked down at her hands, which were shaking, and then headed straight for the fifth-year boys dorm room and crawled into Evan's bed, waiting for him to come. She wasn't sure if she told Bella or her parents about this. If she was being dramatic. Evan would know what to do.
