Apple had been nervous as soon as the team postings went up. He had ended up on the team with the baddest ass girls on campus AND the crankiest teachers. He had no idea how he was going to survive the night but after a quick smoke he walked as quick as he could to the meeting, in King's Hall. He, of course, was five minutes late to the meeting and missed all the questions.
During the briefing with his team, he scuffled his feet and stared at the ground. "Uh... so... like... are we gonna make a citizens arrest er some shit if we find someone?" he asked.
Mack had been extremely pleased at the team placement, especially when their faculty leaders started bickering. It was exactly the disorder she loved in a team setting. She had been slightly disappointed that they hadn't been put on Candice's team, her and Hunter adored their old house leader, but professor Aomori's antics had already won her over quickly. Smirking from behind her aviators, she waited for Apple to finish asking his question before busting in.
"Well Applesauce," she drawled, "As Mr.Teo-deo-dora explained so kindly, he don't want none of that hero bullshit." She growled the last part in what she thought was her best impression of the cranky professor and patted Apple on the head. She was feeling increasingly obnoxious and ready for action. Her little visit with Tatum before their meeting had given her an, unexpected burst of energy. She leaned forward with a dangerous smirk on her face, and raised her hand not bothering to be called on before speaking. "What I really wanna know boss, is are we splittin' up into smaller teams? 'Cause Hunt and I are pretty much a two man operation here. Like, Tonto and the Lone Ranger." She glanced over at Hunter to back her up, because she knew that she would. Even though she knew they would never be allowed to go off by themselves, it was fun to mess with Teodoro just a little bit, especially if it meant that Aomori would hit him again.
Hunter had been pretty patient during the talk that they received, though she had made sure to snort obnoxiously at Teodoro shooting down the idea of heroism. Being heroes was why they were all there, wasn't it? If they caught whoever did this, and brought them to justice, they would be heroes for sure. There was no reason to act like that wasn't their purpose. When Mack spoke up, she was instantly smirking as she sidled up beside Apple and patted his head.
Coming up on his other side, the taller blonde clapped a hand onto Apple's shoulder and grinned widely. It was a look she knew Candice would recognize as being as dangerous as the smirk on her best friend's lips. "Yeah man, that's for true! And if we're splittin' into smaller teams, we'll take the lil' hippie. Mack wants to ask him some questions anyway," she piped in, leaning forward to look at the other blonde. "Y'know, about his little minor friend, who I so know y'all went to visit before you got here! You got that look on yer face!" Shaking her head, Hunter gave a heavy shrug of her shoulders. "Whatever we're gonna do, let's get this show on the road. I'm gonna catch this motherf--.. bad fella."
Apple was no short kid but with Hunter on one side and Mackenzie on the other, he suddenly felt very small. He shrank back a little, turning red.
Teo did his best not to growl at Mackenzie when she imitated him, she did a pretty fair job of it but he wasn't about to admit that. "I oughta..." Aiko smacked him again before he could get the rest out. "Damn it woman!" "Tonto, we stay together," Aiko said to Mackenzie. "We go in line. Cheerful girl, you line up team," she demanded turning to Sunny. Sunny stepped up, not able to help the big smile on her face. "Yes professor," she tried not to laugh. "Maybe Hunter, Mack, and Apple can take the front with coach. Eden, Professor Aomori, and Professor Rodriguez, we'll watch the back together. Whenever you're ready," she nodded, giving Apple a sympathetic smile. He was better off with the blondes anyways.
Mackenzie reached out and smacked Hunter in the backside of the head. "She ain't a minor!" She hollered back, looking exasperated. "Hippie pie, please tell this big buffoon that Tatum is only a year younger than we are? And so what if I did visit her? I was just reassuring her we'd be safe!"
Aiko smacking Teodoro was enough to stop the blonde from getting too sore over it, and she couldn't help but snicker. Seeing the grumpy man get hit repeatedly by a woman half his size was quickly becoming the tall blondes new entertainment. She wondered how many times she could provoke him in the course of one watch. While she was disappointed in Aiko's answer, especially because she wanted to protest that really Hunter would be Tonto, she couldn't help but cheer when Sunny assigned Teo to their group. She wrapped a lanky arm around Apple's shoulders and grinned widely at Teo. "Ayyeee!! Teo!!" She called, pulling down her shades to wiggle her eyebrows at him. She held up her free hand to try and high five the man, "We got this on lock! Let's go get this son of'a bitch!"
"Ey!" Hunter cried as she was smacked, making an irritated face over at her best friend. "Well she looks like a damn minor so I calls 'em like I see 'em! You cradle robbin' no goodnik!" the taller blonde added, her lower lip sticking out in a decidedly stubborn pout. No matter how many times Mack corrected her, ripping on her friend was just too satisfying to give up.
When someone else other than herself was receiving a smack, and the team was divided up slightly even if they still had to stick to each other, Hunter did try to act a little more serious. With her wand close at hand, she held up her flashlight with her free hand, waving it around a bit. "It's more'n on lock, failure ain't an option," the blonde informed them firmly, releasing Apple from her grip and leaving him to Mack as she took the lead, trudging off to begin their route. "C'mon people, this campus ain't gonna search itself!"
Aiko nodded. "Lone Ranger and Tonto right," she said, grabbing Teo's arm, she pushed him forward with the two tall blondes and Apple. "Take care of hippie. Go now," she directed him. Teo grumbled but didn't put up any protest that they were finally on the move.
Sunny nodded and hung back with Eden and the two professors. It took all the effort she had not to laugh at Hunter and Mack's antics. She couldn't have been more pleased with the team pairings, she knew that she had been put on a good one, they were sure to find something and do something. She made sure to stay within a few steps of the first group as they walked toward the greenhouse and the woods. It wasn't the chilliest of nights for her, she had been used to New York winters so the temperatures at Blue Ridge never really bothered her, but there was a certain creepiness to the whole thing. They were going out looking for something. She was careful not to tread on anything as they walked through the woods and looked around, whipping her head from side to side as they moved deeper into the woods. They could really come across anything so she wasn't sure what she should be looking for.
Apple was completely intimidated by the blondes on either side of him but he just trudged along between them with his flashlight out in front of him and his wand at the ready. He knew the woods like the back of his hand, they had never scared him before, he had never been lost before so they wasn't what was bothering him. He was terrified of the kind of people they might find in there, the evidence of what those people might have done. He didn't want to see the darker side of humanity, but there was something in him that was pushing him forward, he needed to do something to help.
He was careful not to over react to the little sounds of the woods. He could identify almost all of the sounds by just hearing them. Squirrel. Fox. Teo grumbling to himself. He kept his eyes flicking from the path in front of him to the woods that they passed through. He wanted to be as thorough as possible. He really wanted to lit a joint and just chill but something told him that was a terrible idea. Maybe it was being in the presence of three teachers and two future aurors. He shrugged off the thought and kept looking. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
