Valentine's Day always tended to be an unmitigated disaster but this year just took the cake. She wasn't even one hundred percent sure where she and Bastian were but after the dance she was feeling pretty hopeless. When it came to relationships, she just couldn't win. She wasn't going to just sit back and let this one slip away though. Sunny had to do something to let him know that she wanted to be with him. After classes she dressed and got ready to raid the kitchens.

She had been cooking in University kitchen for a while, just making sure everything was perfect before going up to Bastian's room with the rest of his present as well. Tentatively, she knocked at the door with her foot. "Bastian?" she called, leaning toward the door. I bet Erica Kauffman didn't make him heart-shaped cookies, she thought a little bitterly as she waited.

Gaudy wasn't the right word for the way that the ball room had been decorated. Gaudy wasn't nearly extreme enough a word to cover the over the top ridiculousness that had occurred in the room. Shades of red, pink, purple, and white flooded all over the hall. Fat, naked cherub toys swung from the ceiling shooting foam, heart shaped arrows down into the crowd. Red hearts floated past and every once in a while, one of the hearts would explode and send glitter all over the place.

Streamers, banners, and table cloths were heart and glitter covered. Staff were watching the students and aurors took a few rounds around the outside of the building. Snack tables were covered in Valentine's Day snacks and the punch was bright red with Valentine's Day themed cups.

After the the big meeting in the hall the three groups split up and met to talk about their assignments. Teo was more than prepared to just take the students and go but Aiko had other plans. "Come on, let's just get this shit show on the road," he grumbled to the assembled students in their group. Aiko smacked him in the back of the head and César had to stifle a giggle. "You stupid man!" Aiko said angrily. "We go into woods blind with students? No," she smacked Teo's shoulder. "We tell plan and then we go. Now. Plan."

Teo looked at her scathingly as if she had done the most insulting thing on the planet. "We got the west loop so what we're gonna do is circle round back King's Hall and then make our way to the boarder where the woods meet the grounds, we'll circle'round to the greenhouse. At that point we're gonna go into the woods and check all the way back toward Mystic Lake now y'all better be careful cause I don't feel much like draggin' a drowned ass student outta the lake tonight. It's too cold fer that shit."

"How we don't want no hero bullshit so if y'all see somethin' you come forward and tell me er one 'a this two," he said pointing to the other two teachers. "Now once we reach the lake, we gotta circle it for good measure and then come back the other way we came from. Y'all better have flashlights cause aint no use in wastin' yer wand with that lumos bullshit. Can't cast nothin' when you're tryin' to make a damn wand into a flashlight."

It was the last dance of the calendar year and the last chance to have a great bash, it was the last chance to impress. The social events committee, with the help of the staff, had decorated King's Hall to be a winter wonderland. They charmed giant, fluffy flakes to fall from the ceiling, the walls seemed almost iced over, and jovial holiday music played overhead as if were coming down from the ceiling with the snow flakes.

A snack and drink table was set up in the back, blue and silver table clothes lining the long tables and silver chairs set up around the whole hall. There was a giant light up evergreen tree at the back of the room with decorations that students from the past had given to the school and there were several menorahs set up and lit around the room. The staff were dressed in their holiday best and prowling the dance for drunk kids and boys and girls who were dancing to close but generally there was a feeling of merriment, joy, and excitement over the holidays.

The holiday feeling was running high around the campus. Holiday decorations dotted the halls and the houses, fires were always roaring in the fire places, there was a faint smell of sugar cookies and chestnuts, and candy canes floated in the air. It was a time for cheer and gift giving.

The secret santa assignments had gone out and all that was left was for the students to exchange their gifts. Ichirou himself had bene working for hard to make the students all feel welcome for the holidays by making his own gifts for all the students and staff and written a personal message on each note.

Summary: The first night of Parents Weekend!

Head Master Sato had gone to great lengths to make sure the whole weekend would go off without a hitch. Safety wards were in place, student tour guides were ready to take groups of parents around the campus, the culinary were in charge of preparing meals, and all the student groups had set up special activities areas to show what they were up to. Everything was going to be just perfect, a good beginning to the school year.

He was considerably nervous being that it was his first Parent’s Weekend as head master. He had been stuck in his office for days just digging through all the paperwork and going over finances. Things were going pretty smoothly for the first week back despite a few minor setbacks with a couple disciplinary concerns but that was to be expected with a school. It was nice to finally get out though and talk to others. He stood at the front of the school near King’s Hall and greeted everyone who went by, remembering the faces of the first years he had just sorted a week ago.

As always, the three friends knew how to throw an awesome party. There was no doubt in anyone's mind on campus that the annual back to school bash would be one of the biggest social events of the year. Even though it was a kegger in the woods, they decided on the theme: "Classy As Fuck", leaving it mostly up to the party guests to interpret what that meant exactly. The only dress code guide line that was enforced (if not extremely loosely) was it was a, in Mack's words, "tie wearing" event.

They had made sure to set it far enough into the woods that even the loudest bass would have a hard time being head on campus. It was located in a large meadow that looked like it was right out of a fairy tale, complete with bubbling brook and a few tree's scattered around the place to string lights from. The girl's had lined the area around the clearing with torches that were charmed to shine bright all through the evening, and floating lanterns hunt at various heights in the air. Music echoed from all corners of the clearing, and a DJ booth had been set up off to the side. There had also been various random bits of seating that were dispersed throughout the grass, along with a flattened area for dancing.

Mackenzie went to check that all the kegs and the open bar they had set up was all accounted for, along with the several regulation beer pong tables that had been arranged off to the side of the booze. You couldn't have an awesome party without copious amounts of beer, liquor and a bartender to serve it all. Satisfied with the rest of her mental check list, the blonde just grinned happily and made her way over to her two partners in crime.

"Ladies," she declared, nodding to both of them. "We are ready to get our party on."
