Support cast suggestions: her grandfather the history professor with a special interest in medieval history.  A best friend at school, girl or guy.   A Mean Girl who mocks poor no-discernible-bra-size Lucy.   An email-only penpal she's never met or doesn't know she's met.

I want to do the Mean Girl. Annabeth von Angland. Resident spoiled rich brat and queen bee at Lucy's high school. Has everything going for her, the good car, the hot boyfriend, Daddy that pays for everything...and looooves making people feel "less than worthy". Lucy being one of those targets. She could have pissed her off or something.

Hrm...maybe Lucy corrected her in an open discussion in class. Lucy would be up on her history thanks to Grandpa.
