Wendell saw Julian's behavior as a good sign. He seemed to be handling this very well and that was a big relief. "Oh yes, Joshua saw you. Lots of the pack saw you and they were very surprised. It's very special to be able to shift when you're so young." He wanted the experience (though painful) to be a good thing for Julian. It would prepare him better for the change later in life, and if it came again sooner, well all the more reason for him to be primed for it.
"You ate plenty when you were a pup, but our bodies always need food. We'll fix you something good." While Julian was in there, he took the opportunity to soap him up a little and wash his hair. He warmed the water up again about halfway through to be certain he didn't give Julian a chill. When he plucked him out of the bath, he wrapped him in a big fluffy towel and dried him off well before depositing him into some of his warm pajamas.
