Ene ([info]impotentwaffle) wrote in [info]cwf,
When he'd first started out, Quillan had tried to be ruthless and cold like Rex. He recognized that the man himself wasn't mean-spirited and he admired Rex's ability to shut off all emotion for a good decision that might be hard for other people to make, but necessary. Rex, however, had taught Quillan to play to his strengths and caring was one of them. Granted, Rex would much rather Quillan care about humans rather than all living things.

Quillan went upstairs for a moment and came back down with a large bottle of water, tall and narrow so that it could fit through the bars. "I'm Quillan," he said as he knelt down next to the cage, handing Kellen the bottle. "Are you sure you're not hungry? I know your kind eats a great deal. You're not going to get enough food here, but you'll get some and I'll try to make it taste good."
