open to miles and bae
Nikolai was probably one of the strongest sorcerers in the states. He took a bit of pride in that fact, and he always would. He didn't flaunt his power, he was more quiet about it, but it radiated off of him with ease. When he'd met Miles, he sensed a power within the boy that told him he could be great, and he immediately took him under his wing. And then they'd developed into a bit more than just teacher and student. When Miles asked Nikolai to get Bae out of the sex ring he was in, normally Niko would have said no. But Miles had hit a soft spot within him, so he'd done as asked and now the boy was traveling around with them. Niko never stayed in one place for long. He was wealthy, came from a long line of sorcerers who had a lot of money over the years that he'd inherited. He was an antique dealer, and he went all over to auctions.

At the moment they were in Boston. Nikolai had been out all day at an auction, and when he came home he was ready to just relax. He had on a three piece navy suit, and he was all ready undoing the buttons of his suit jacket to shrug it off as he stepped in the door and set his briefcase down. He could smell food cooking, and he knew Miles must have been busy in the kitchen. After shrugging his jacket off, he hung it up by the door and headed down the large hallway of the house they were currently staying in to slip into the kitchen.

"What are you cooking?" he asked, his British accent lilting through the air.

"Not sure," Niko answered as he started to get the important things off of the shelf. He had a checklist, and he went to snag that out of his desk. "Like I said, there's only one way to find out and that's to go there. If it is him... Well, then it is. If it isn't, then we'll keep looking. You should go pack up, then get some rest."

Knowing Bae, though, he'd get no rest at all.

Bae stood there for a few beats longer than would normally be comfortable in silence. He always pushed his stares a few moments too long or kept his touches just over the edge of awkward. Finally, he nodded and turned to go pack his things. It would take him long; he kept his possessions to a bare minimum of necessity.

When he was done with that, he followed Niko's instruction and laid down on his bed, but all he could do was stare up at the ceiling, thinking about Mason.

After Niko had gotten the study packed up and had double checked everything he headed up to the room he shared with Miles. He shed his clothes and went to brush his teeth so that he could crawl into bed with Miles. He let an arm curl around the younger man's waist and tugged him closer to him as a sigh escaped his lips.

"If it's not Mason, he's going to be very disappointed," he mumbled into Miles' dark hair with a frown.

Miles was so confident that the spell had worked just as he'd intended that he shook his head. "Who else would be looking for Bae? It's Mason. Don't worry so much." He smiled at Nikolai and leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Do you think they'll want to stay with us after they find each other? Can we keep them?" Like they were pets, though Miles knew enough that he didn't mean any disrespect with that phrase. He just wanted to know if Nikolai wouldn't mind being responsible for three people instead of just two like it was now.

"Haven't I taught you not to put all of your eggs in one basket?" Niko asked Miles as he closed his eyes and dipped his head down to kiss the tip of Miles' nose. "I don't know. I wouldn't mind them staying, but it's really up to them what they want to do, isn't it?" he asked with a faint smile as he opened his eyes. "What? You didn't like it just me and you? Am I terribly boring?"

	Miles laughed a little at that last part. "Oh yes, you're excrutiatingly boring. There's only so much refinement and mind blowing beauty I can stand in one day." He sighed with mock dramatics. "I just don't know what they'd do without us. Sometimes I think Bae would just curl up and waste away if there wasn't someone there to prod him into moving and living." 	"Mason might be completely different than Bae," Niko reasoned, "Maybe Mason is just what he needs," he added, which was one of the many reasons why Niko was so desperate to find the other panther. "It says that he doesn't know what else to do. Maybe he feels guilty about what happened? About him being sold? We really don't know this Mason person at all, do we." Miles sighed, expressing a little bit of trepidation over the idea of bringing someone new into their little group.

But he wanted Bae to be happy, so of course he wanted to find Mason for him. Still, Miles could be cautious about things like this.

	"Of course you do," Nikolai said with a smile, his voice muffled by Miles' lips. "You know - most people drink coffee in the states, we're both tea drinkers. 	"Coffee is unrefined," he laughed and stared up at Nikolai. "So long as I can have wine along with tea, I'll always be satisfied with my beverages. And so long as I can have Brits, I suppose I'll always be satisfied with my lovers." He raised his eyebrows, challenging Nikolai to be offended by the suggestion that Brits were interchangeable. 	"You do have very nice teeth," he admitted and heaved a great sigh as if that was the clincher. "Would it be Bae? If you had to pick someone else and Bae wasn't looking for Mason?" Miles sighed. "Why can't I read auras?" There was too much going on in his mind at all times. He had a terrible time just making it go blank to let information in. He also tried to push it too hard, thinking he could force the aura to appear rather than realize that it was always there and he was just trying to see it.

He turned onto his side and curled up around Nikolai. "You're going to get annoyed with my lack of skill one day."

"You think too much, you're always trying to figure things out - and sometimes that's good. But with auras, there isn't anything to figure out. It's there, you just have to let yourself see it instead of trying so hard," he smiled as he wrapped his arm around Miles' slender waist. "Why do you think you can always see mine after we sleep together? You're all lazy and happily content."

Miles quirked a brow. "I guess I just thought you were showing it to me rather than me seeing it on my own." His cheeks flushed and he thought about having sex with Nikolai, especially the literal afterglow.

He considered the other man's words and tried to relax, but once again, he was forcing it. Actively trying to be relaxed was the worst way to actually achieve it.

	At the moment, his aura was going wild with bashfulness and a healthy amount of lust. The idea that Niko knew how much he'd liked him right from the beginning was a little humiliating, but he didn't mind too terribly now that they were together. 	Nikolai turned his head and brushed a kiss against the top of Miles' head as his eyes drifted closed. "You're adorable when you're bashful," he mumbled with a grin before he let his lips head downwards, towards the younger man's neck. "You smell good. Did you put vanilla in that potion of yours?" "Vanilla helps improve mental powers. A luck potion is mostly just something to give people more energy and alertness--then they make their own luck." It was difficult to be scholarly when Nikolai was making his body shiver, but he tried.

Finally though, he just exhaled a little sigh and slipped his hand against the back of Niko's neck and up through his hair. "Do you know I've never spilt wine on anyone before you? You made me so nervous when I was serving your table." When he'd been pouring the recommended wine, he'd gotten some on the table cloth and although it wasn't that big of a deal to anyone at the table, Miles had been utterly humiliated by it.

	"No," Nikolai answered in a little mumble, a faint rumble of amusement in his voice as he let a hand move to slip beneath Miles' shirt so that he could slide it up along the younger man's spine. Tilting his head to the side, he let the pale expanse of his neck lay easily out before Nikolai. As he spoke, his voice box vibrated against the man's lips. "No, just far, far above me." At least he'd thought that at the time. The man was handsome, cultured, and well off. Miles wasn't sure he saw himself as any of those things, especially not back then.

He sat up and maneuvered so that he could straddle Nikolai, sitting back on his stomach as he looked down at him with a smirk. "I could feel your power too, though I didn't quite understand it at the time."

Nikolai couldn't help but smile at the way the younger man's throat vibrated against his lips. He was about to part his lips again to nip the skin once more, but found their positions changed and himelf on his back. He had no complaints of course, and he let his hands settle at Miles' hips.

"I could tell you were nervous and confused, and I just wanted to put you in my pocket and take you home," he said with a faint smile.
