Dex's first priority was keeping the shield up around Jon, which left him unable to do anything offensively against Doomsday. The only thing Dex could do was get the hell out of the way, which is exactly what he tried to do.
Doomsday's smash missed, but he did grab Dex's arm. Pain spiked through the green lantern as the shoulder was pulled from its socket. It was clearly dislocated at this point. Dex yelled in part pain and part anger.
